I emailed Kellogg, also signed this online petition created and written by Lee Stranahan over at the Huffington Post

Petition to Boycott Kellogg's for Treatment of Michael Phelps...

To:  Kellogg's Corporation

Whereas...

1) Kellogg's is a major manufacturer of cereal and junk food products including but not limited to Frosted Flakes, Pop Tarts, Cheez-Its, Froot Loops, Keebler's Cookies, Rice Krispies, Eggo Frozen Waffles, Famous Amos Cookies and many other products known to be a part of the diet of many marijuana using Americans

2) The Kellogg's has profited for decades on the food tastes of marijuana using Americans with the munchies. In fact, we believe that most people over the age of twelve would not eat Kellogg's products were they not wicked high.

3)That Kellogg's has decided to end their relationship with Olympic Swimmer Michael Phelps after pictures of him surfaced doing exactly what most Kellogg's customers do right before enjoying a bowl of Rice Krispies mixed with Keebler Cookies with an Eggo on top.

4) That this action by Kellogg's, while legal, is totally bogus.

5) That Kellogg's is a big fat hypocrite, just like our parents when they found our stash under our mattress and took it and then later they sat in the living room and listened the Dark Side Of The Moon over and over and danced and laughed and I swear we smelled something.

6) That a quick Wikipedia search shows the founder of Kellogg's - john Harvey Kellogg - was a total frickin' weirdo who believe in putting children's genitals in a cage to keep them from playing with themselves and also believed in yogurt enemas.

7) That seriously, just Google John Harvey Kellogg. Dude was freaky.

8) That the thing about yogurt enemas makes us want to hurl when we look at that box of Kellogg's Yogos we have in the pantry.

9) That Michael Phelps should totally drop YOU dudes for your obsession with bran and fiber and masturbation and butts and stuff. You drop HIM? Dude won eight gold medals and probably didn't stick a single one in his butt or tie it in tourniquet around his naughty bits. Dude was just trying to relax. Seriously Kellogg's, WTF?

Given all these facts and the total disregard for your customer base and that thing with the yogurt, we the undersigned plan to BOYCOTT your products.

And we're serious.

Even though the Pop Tarts thing will be HARD.

Kellogg keeps regular business hours (M - F) no Saturday or Sunday calls will make it thru, so don't bother with the 800 number on the week-end or after hours.

The petition has nearly 1100 signatures already.

Also, Kellogg advocated application of carbolic acid to the clitoris to stop women from masturbating.  Pure carbolic acid.

Also that huffpo petition is really stupid.  I love your work Veggie, but that petition is bad.  It's probably written by a dea agent trying to make all drug users look as dumb as that petition is.  fuck that petition.  huffpo rots your brain please stop reading it.

Yes it's stupid AND funny, I thought. It's not meant to be serious, it's satire. Just to point out the hypocrisy of Kellog's. They sell products detrimental to children,  high in fat, sugar and saturated fat, while portraying them as "part of a healthy balanced diet and lifestyle."

"Take Frosted Flakes. The company recommends a 3/4-cup serving, but come on that's like eating a handful of  sugary air. A real bowl is about two to three times that amount. That means kids can start the day with up to 36 grams of sugar, or about 9 teaspoons per bowl. Multiply that morning after morning."

Don't take the letter seriously. I think using satire to get across one's point is perfectly fine. At least that's my take on it.

I do take it seriously.  I just don't think it's funny, and I think shit like that kills the movement for real reform.  The only potheads I know who act like that are kids without their shit together who watch too much tv.  the potheads I know all do things like neurology, research, entrepreneurialism, and psychology and are nothing like this. 

It's using satire to plant the image of pot use causing stupidity, not to oppose kellogg (the message about kellogg is kellogg products are irresistible, also, it's not the marketing that causes people to want their products).  It's classic information warfare.  Defining the opposition and manufacturing ostensibly opposing writings is a classic propaganda technique.  The person who wrote it is either intentionally sabotaging the movement for legalization or functioning as a useful idiot.  So I do take it seriously, and I think it seriously damages the movement for reform.  That petition smells like kellogg-PDFA propaganda piece, or something written by a useful idiot trying to be funny by riffing on propaganda based stereotypes.  People who write shit like that are not on the good guys side.

Also, note that anyone signing the petition has basically consented to kellogg products being irresistible.  Consciously, the person signing this thinks fuck kellogg, unconsciously, the person signing this gets the message kelloggs is great.  The last thing you read is "it's hard to avoid poptarts.  Sign here."  It's crap, it deflates energy needed for real change to happen.

Kellogg can keep their 'Special-Ketamine' cereal.  I don't even buy their products anyway.  They're all full of high fructose corn syrup, trans fats and preservatives.  Plus, it's all pseudo-health food that isn't really that good for you when you analyze the composition.  Bunch o' shit!  All of it!
