It is what you get from having closed a family restaurant a couple of years back and still having a lot of unfinished bottles of single malt on hand to finish off.

My father was really in to his whiskies so there is always a pretty good selection available :smile:

Did you read my post about Lagavulin about 5 posts back?

I hadn't even heard of Lagavulin but I will definately look it up on your recommendation.  Sounds like one for a special occasion!

How do bourbon and scotch differ taste-wise?


Bourbon is sweeter, and scotch is drier.  But its hard to describe without drinking it of course.

Technically, Jack is not bourbon - thats why its called tennessee whiskey.  But its very bourbon like in its taste.  Rye whiskey is good too, it has a more tangy taste.

Personally I go for Bourbons and Rye.

I drink Johnnie Walker from time to time.

I started drinking on Jack but after sharing some shots of JW w/ a friend I've switched.

Much smoother and pleasant to drink.

Laphroaig is waaay to peaty, I bought my dad an 18year old bottle and he could hardly bear it. I used to work in a pub, and whenever someone asked for it, it always seemed to be when I was hungover. And the smell would linger forever. MacAllan 10 year is the only whisky iv ever actually enjoyed drinking straight, and im Scottish!
