Scotch Drinkers, Give Opinions...

Are you a Scotch drinker? Do you like a single or double malt? What brand? Do you drink it with mixers, or crushed ice or cubes, or water? Or just straight?
Right now I am trying some Glenlivet 12yr, a single malt. Very smooth and sweet, I just drink it on a bit of crushed ice. I also like Buchannan's and Dewars Deluxe. (which I can't find anymore)

I've honestly never heard of double malt -- just single malts and blends.
Example of double malt, please?

Single malts only. I like to drink it neat. Glenlivet 12 is decent for the price. If you want to step it up a bit get some Macallan.

I saw that Macallan but don't know anything about it. Good, eh? Nice and smooth, with a good, thinly sweet scotch taste? I'll give it a try. The Glenlivets 12, usually is $45 a fifth at the store I buy, they had it on sale for $27 a fifth, so I picked up a fifth.

Yep, its good stuff, very smooth. The aftertaste is a bit like dark chocolate.

understand that I'm not a drinker and whiskey/whisky has been one to make me sick until recently, my recommendation and I drink it neat with no chaser

you'll never find one better, I normally go through a bottle over several months but with this it's a bottle a week when I buy it, I had to stop because I fear I'd really start drinking it as a profession

Glenlivet 12, Macallan 12, Laphroaig 10... All very good.
Realize that Laphroaig 10 is a very peaty scotch and tastes NOTHING like the other two though. Ardbeg 10 is another very good peaty Scotch. A little more expensive than Laphroaig 10 though.
Another very good Scotch bargain is Glenmorangie 10. It is what I would get if I wanted to buy a fifth of Scotch- it's about $28/fifth for some quality stuff (much better than Glenlivet 12 for example).
As for blends, they're usually unexciting. Famous Grouse is drinkable though- a blend of Macallan and Highland Park scotches.
I usually drink it with 2-3 ice cubes. I let the ice cubes melt and chill the Scotch before I start sipping.

I personally enjoy glenlivet.. For the price it is exceptional. I was first introduced to it last year when an old friend recommended it. Very smooth and great to drink neat.

Both examples of Canadian blended whiskey, one pretty good, one drinkable. Neither Scotch, technically.
Personally I dont see any point in drinking blended scotch. A $25 bottle of bourbon beats any $35 bottle of blended scotch - they are blended for consistency and a flavor that wont offend a sensitive palate. Once you get to the $40-50 range you can start looking at some quality single malt, 10+ year scotches, which have the same effect on your tastebuds that LSD has on your brain.
Some personal favorites:
