Guitar Lessons

I began playing guitar about 8 months ago and have progressed a decent amount, but I think its time I take lessons.  Has anyone here taken guitar lessons, and if so how much did you pay per hour?  Im paying 350 for 10 1 hour lessons, does this sound reasonable?

$35 an hour isn't too bad at all. it just depends on the teacher and his ability to explain things in a way that you can understand. you'll know within a lesson or two if you're getting your moneys-worth. good luck and keep on jamming.

30-50/hour is normal

Why take guitar lessons when you can just spend countless hours playing Guitar Hero? :rolleyes:

I use to take drum lessons for $30/hr.  I dunno...sounds like you're getting a reasonable deal.

thats pretty damn good for an hourly rate dude.

your lessons wont mean shit unless you PRACTICE!!!!!

spend a good 3-4 hours a day going over the lessons, also, try to learn songs by ear (make sure theyre tuned to your guitar) and learn the 7 modes.

fingering and chords are very important, as well as being creative; try and make your own songs

that's pretty good.

I paid $30 an hour for mine and the guy made a DVD of the lesson so you didn't forget everything.

plus now that I'm not taking lessons, I can always go back and watch the DVDs

I just started playing guitar like 2 months ago. I had one lesson so far $30, and the teacher said I'm far better than I'm supposed to be for a beginner. I am learning as many chords/bar chords that I can and practice an hour a day or so.

A friend of mine comes over to jam every once on awhile so I watch him play and try to pick up what he's doing.

Had my first lesson and it was rather fun.  He gave me scotch as I entered, and has got me singing which was cool.  I sound horrible so im not sure why he wants me singing.  Either way, it was enjoyable and I felt as though I did learn a bit.  However, the longer its been I seem to remember other small tidbits of information from the lesson.  If only my guitar was out of the shop, so i could practice haha. I can see this being a very awesome thing, 350 dollars well spent.

personally i've learned a lot more by just playing by myself from tabs on the internet than i ever did at lessons. i did have a great time talking to my instructor though. he was this crazy hippy dude that street louged (idk how to spell it...but the sport where you go down hills on the really long skateboard at like 50mps).

i think i paid $35 per lesson too.
