i want to learn the basics of guitar, does anyone know of a good instructional video set?

I would look for 'justinguitar' on youtube. dude has a ton of great videos to help noobs and advanced players alike, and its free.

you really outta have someone show you in person.

you don't so much have to pay for, if you know a friend who plays have them show you the basics.

I think that whatever you choose, it should teach you how to read sheet music. Odds are you're only going to be good if you can work with other musicians. Learn tab if you only want a casual familiarity. (No offense meant to the tab people).

well, I self-taught myself with tab sites, but I self-taught some bad habits.

I can read sheet music (I was in band from 6th grade through graduation), but tabs are way easier.

you should definitely at least learn how to count musically though. it's help you with your rhythm
