Anyone play the mandolin?

I really dig the mandolin and I think I'm going to take it up.  Anyone here play it?  Your thoughts on this great instrument?

I don't play it very well, but I've made a bunch of them for Gibson.

I just got one like a week ago. It's so much fun to play.

Takes a while to get used to though if you're a geetar player.

exactly. just like a banjo, its tuned to C (instead of E like a guitar). so getting used to making chord shapes is a bit different(the chords are pretty much upside down from a guitar). plus, you have to get used to constant strumming since the notes don't ring out. still, they're extremely fun.
