Movies in theatres are already shown at resolutions far higher than our 1080p(1920x1200) that we currently have (movie theatres are about 4,000x4,000 resolution), did you know that there are some 30 inch computer monitors capable of displaying games at resolutions higher than 1080p? That's better than hd quality. 2560x1600! yay!

Crisis at 2650x1600 FTMFW!

I know my tv at home is much clearer and crisper then a theater. Movie theaters are going digital HD I think in February here If I remember right/

These days you can have a better movie watching experience in your home then a movie theater.

A quality plasma or LCD tv of 46+ inches coupled with a quality 5000$ stereo system and a blue ray player right there is a better experience then a theater.

go watch a polarized 3D movie on a big screen.  you will be blown away.  I think I read there are only around 3,000 theaters set up for this across the nation.  But it's insanely crisp and clear and in perfect 3D.

i saw an underwater documentary in one of these 3D theaters. :eek:  it's not the green/red lens glasses stuff... this technology is much more advanced..  my friends and i went had to to look away from the screen from time to time because it was too intense..

on a side note, i also read an article about how sony is thinking about either adding this technology to the PS3 or designing the PS4 from the ground up to play games in true 3D

Then your theater must suck.  Film usually has a 'resolution' of 3000 to 4000 dots per inch.  This would equate to around 11000x9800 pixels on the theater screen.  You honestly believe that your television, even a nice 1920×1080 resolution TV, is anywhere near film?
