help me quit booze...pleeeeeeeeeeeeeez

wierd place to post this
but i need help
im goin down a road i dont want to
but booze the only  thing that numbs my pain n mind...
but i\ve seen too many people hurt by booze....
i spend most of my time/effort thinkin/aquiring  booze
its become a burden
but the releif from drinking is soooooooo much i  just  dunno how to stop...:sad:

Replace with Pot?

I don't know, I don't really have a booze problem but if I did I imagine I could just go cold turkey, or maybe just learning how to have "1 or 2 drinks". That may prove difficult.

If you make it your sole mission to not drink any more, you should join your local AA. I have been to an AA meeting before (required from when I was arrested with pot) and I realized that for someone with a booze problem, it is really a helpful, nurturing environment.

The only way to get rid of an addiction I've found is to replace it with another. It may be hard to realign your priorities and do so, but just staying busy and keep at it will help. For instance, if you wanna get into golfing, just go golfing everytime you want to drink. Get your mind off of it. If you don't think about it, it's not a problem.

It might be easier to replace it with a similar addiction, for instance another drug. This can be a useful, albeit often dangerous, way to ween yourself off. Instead of drinking take a bong rip for example. Be careful to not become to addicted to the replacement though. If you go this route it might be a good idea to replace the addiction with multiple things. So instead of replacing it with getting high, maybe replace it with getting high and painting. So that way your focus is split between painting and getting high. Then you won't become as addicted to getting high, and that new addiction (getting high) will then be attached to painting so it's not a crutch you will lean on. No one gets sad and gets high and goes painting. Well.. they do, but it'll probably help because painting is healthy. You gotta mix the good w/the bad.

edit: Btw, if I want to break habits a trip is a great way to go about it. I always am less attached to things after a good trip and am able to re prioritize these things from that point on. I recently cut back on drinking drastically, from a few times a week minimum to now I haven't drank but 2 or 3 times in over a month. I wouldn't say I was very addicted though, but it was still a habit I noticed myself forming.

They have professionals for this.

You need to fix the pain n mind first ,otherwise you are only trading one thing for the other.

Seek professional help ,you are way ahead of most ,you want to change,but changing escape methods is not the way.


A good approach could be a psych doc,he will help with the issues that cause you to drink,you might not need anything else....:shrug:

How do you even get booze?  I thought you are crippled and in a wheel chair.  Your caretakers steel your pain killers, but they let you have alcohol?  This seems really weird to me.

If I was Lucid I would move into a nursing home seriously.  At least he can be doped up on opiates all day long.  Better than alcohol in my opinion

I'm not even criple and I was even happier at the hospital than I am in this house.  I had my own room and my own bathroom and IV dilaudid every 4 hours.

Oh and 3 hot meals a day.
