Re: why wont anyone start a revolution? [Re: z_x_x_z]

I think we are too caught up in the rapid change of our environment to join forces in a cooperative revolution.  At the same time, I think their is a big divide in the youth between those perfectly complicit, and those outraged but befuddled on how to make an impact.

A revolution of people texting on their phones and watching movies on their ipods is no good.  We are addicted to consumerism that is increasingly complex and diversified.  How then do you rally with a common goal caught up with latest advancements?

It's important that our society self-destructs and the infrastructure deteriorates before people realize they actually have to act to rebuild out of survival.  I do believe it will all happen very quickly, amazingly so, but like Coffee said, it's not time.  Almost...but not yet.

Because most people realize they have it pretty fucking well, and that the chances of their lives being improved by any kind of revolution are startlingly slim, with the astronomically greater probability being that things would be made much worse for the majority of the inhabitants of the country.

In short, most of us aren't stupid.

Or is it the other way around?

The current United States government has provided the highest standard of living to the highest number of people of any government in the history of the world.

It is your hubris, and absolutely nothing else, that makes you think you could do better.

The overwhelming preponderance of historical evidence points the other direction.

what defines better? big houses? HD tv's? luxury cars?

Literacy rates, infant mortality rates, life expectancy, etc, etc.

Unlike you, Redstorm, I have no ego to defend. I don't have to claim to be enlightened or attach myself to any title. I just am what I am.

I see through much of the bullshit that you and this world so deeply attach themselves too though.

You think you know things that other don't, but in reality you don't know shit. You just spout nonsense. It's easy to do that when you don't have anything else going for you though.

It won't work. Technology is too advanced, there is just no way. The government will have you outgunned if you even made it that far, but more than likely would just arrest you as soon as you started planning.

Thats if it was a violent revolution. A violent revolution would be counter productive in my opinion.

I believe that we may not even need a revolution, per say. I just think that if America got off of it's ass and got involved in the politics of the nation, our experiment with democracy would be a success. I guess one could refer to that as a revolution but I believe that as citizens of the United States it is our responsibility to take part in our political system in more ways than voting. We as people should remind our elected officials that they work for us, and they should have to answer to us, no matter what your ideals and beleifs the system only works for us if we work at it. The more we sit around bitching, the smoother the cogs turn in the favor of those in power.

Non-violent protests are a waste of time. Ghandi pulled it off, but I don't think anyone else ever will.

hence the reason I said mother nature will be the factor that sets things back to balance. yet im the crazy one for portraying an idea SO FUCKING FAR OUT IN LEFT FIELD.

right

You sir are what is called a pseudo intellectual. You pretend that you are further then most intellectually by trying to act sophisticated and above everyone else bullshit. The fact remains you have a thread asking for people to help you understand war and you have a thread here asking why nobody is revolting against their governments. How about this... why are YOU not revolting? When you answer that question you will know why everyone else is doing the same thing you are (sitting on your ass bitching in a forum about humanity).
