roadblocks for drunk driving.

I just got home from work, working all day and threw the new year, the luxury of being a chef, living the dream, etc. Anyway, at two different locations, I witnessed roadblocks, literally cops sitting stopping everyone, with no reason, no intent but to find drunks and people with no license. This to me is insane, it would be illegal in a different time. But this proves how nuts things have gotten and how comfortable we've gotten. I honestly think within the next eight years, gwb will look like peter pan. This simple roadblock, which could be argureed, its for the safety of the public, but when does it stop, who draw's the line between private and public. How is stopping everyone doing the public any good? even though its NYE and a majority drinks a bit of alcohol.

What were they telling people was the reason they were stopped? :confused:

I know that in Canada random spot check were legal, but in the US I've only seen cops out in excessive numbers to pull over people who are at least slightly swerving or slightly speeding or whatnot.

idk , to me I see the fact that no judge would overturn any unreasonable conviction in this city more sad, then to say someone's life might be saved. Think about how many sober people get pulled over for accidently swerving, while someone deadly intoxicated drives right past, its life, the thing is we need balance, obv our gov't is not in check anymore. We as a mob have lost control.

its funny you ask that, because a friend of mine was stopped by this and txted me warning me, but I was curious and had to see it for myself. Apparently when she was stopped, everyone was taken out, and the driver walked a line, and were asked what they were up to, gave names and left. They were all sober at this time, so nothing much really happened. Its just incredible to me.

But what was the reason given for pulling them over? People could make some serious bank off the city if they were pulling everyone over without probable cause.

in australia, this has been happening for years. i just assumed it happened everywhere.

last weekend, i seen 4 stations set up on one cross intersection.

and here they don't just make you walk in a straight line or whatever bullshit they do over there, we blow into an alcohol breath testing machine.  They don't just test for alcohol, but marijuana and amphetamines.

Drunk Driver killed my dad.  Not to mention, I see it on the news EVERY FREAKING NIGHT.  Some drunk driver killing some innocent person.  It doesn't bother me a bit if they stop me and do a "spot check"  I'm not drinking or doing drugs in my car.  I get "ripped" at my house.  Doesn't matter what I do.... If I'm tooting, smoking, tripping, drinking, or whatever the hell I feel like doing that day... I stay safe at home.

As I said before, I'm completely aware it happens in Canada. But as far as I'm aware, we're talking about something ocurring in the USA, where there needs to be a reason for the cops to pull you over unless you're crosssing a state border.

like I said the real sad fact here is , I know no judge or DA here will overturn any such convictions. The real fundemental problem here, is the destruction of habeas corpus, and the fact that the majority of american's, no matter what they say really are just comfortable with there privacy being shredded.

the shroomer 1, I'm uncapable of comprehending what it might feel for someone to loose someone so close, that is just unnecessary, but you're missing my point, using your logic, we should search everyone in a lightning storm for metal objects, due to the fact that people die from freak lightning strikes, but the gov't could do something about it. Thats a bad analogy but I think my point is made. All I'm saying is if they are SOOO concerned about this drunk driving thing, why aren't there any fucking politicians trying criminalize alcohol? Why does no one concider this? If it is so fucking dangerous that we should block our roads to invade the public's body in attempt to combat such evil, why the hell can we buy it with such ease? To me it just doesn't add up, and this proves the insanity and creepy comfort we as intelligent beings are willing to accept, for a invisible and false cause.

yeah only test the driver.

what i can't beleive is that the US don't use the breath testers, i just don't get it.

the drug testing on the other hand i am totally opposed to.
