I totally agree with you.
If that were to happen, and one was drunk, their response time would not be as quick as it should have been.

Ill admit Ive drove down the road drunk before. Although it was a country road with no one around and I only had to go two miles. I wouldnt drive drunk where ever I could put someone else in danger.

But what I'm personally defending is the careless mistakes while driving drunk side. To me it seems as though everyone thinks that this well happen and it's totally untrue.

I used to live in a small nebraska town
I would get wasted on the country roads and rarely have to see another car.. when I did happen to pass someone else, I was only going around 30 miles an hour.
still, that was dumb of me. I actually put my car in a ditch once from drunk driving and trying to turn onto a gravel road during the rain. I had a 30 pack in my trunk and a police officer came the next morning, but said there was nothing he could do (wtf?) so I got away scot-free.
those days are over for me now. I don't even have a car

You should see what it's like in New Jersey. I live in the most densly populated state for it's size, and prolly the most ignorent as well. We have all kinds of drunken, speedy assholes around here. More then I care to expose my kids too.

Accidents happen.
The legal limit is ridiculous, btw. .08 in TX
Drinking impairs judgement, therefor drinking and driving laws are made to sway the unimpaired sober citizens to avoiding drinking altogether. Now let's get high!

You're also forgetting something that means a dire risk to your own wellbeing.
If some dumbass bad driver were to, say... pull out of a parking lot right in front of you, and you hit them. It's still your fault once they find out you're inebriated. And they make you pay dearly for what the dumb fucker did to you.
Also, it's not unheard of for bystanders to beat the shit out of someone if they find out they were driving inebriated when an accident occurred.
To be honest, I myself might beat the shit out of you in that case, and I haven't hit a person, or even threatened to, in a decade.

I dunno man. . . i know a lot of truck drivers that get high, i went to a friend of mines' dad's company picnic, he was a truck driver. . . Never met more stoners in my life. They're the pros but im sure theyd get tired if they smoked a lot. But point is here in PA if youre any sort of a decent driver, you HAVE to pay attention to the road, stoned or not. I CAN (dont argue w/me i can im a very good driver, fast if you want me to be). After breaking many things in my car i can barely afford (subaru svx), getting rear-ended and totaled, hitting a tree first snowstorm in a blazer that the 4wd was faulty (ive only had my liscence for a year, and only been driving 4 months outta the year cuz i also got an underage). ive realised a car is not a toy, its a privelege. Respect it. cuz theres deer, snow, rain, sticks, turtles, coons, squirrels (but those you get ten points if you hit them) and many other of natures little nuissances. Point is youre behind the steering wheel of a massive killing machine, dont drive it like that.

I was once pulled over for speeding. It didn't have anything to do with the fact that I was high. I just didn't see the sign where the speed limit changed. Anyway, I took a sobriety test. I passed all the tests having to do with motor skills and whatnot(like walking a straight line or touching your finger to your nose), but when he took my pulse and shined the light in my eyes, he could tell that I was stoned. He told me this, but let me go anyway, saying that he felt I wasn't a threat to anyone on the road. So, if a cop thought I was safe to drive stoned, then who am I to argue?
