Which - if any of these - would YOU clone and why?





The big fella on the right came up before everybody else but the rest all came up pretty close to the same time.

The little cap opened, so he's being printed if you're wondering what happened to his head.

One from that clump at the left at around 9o'clock. There seems to be quite a few all the same size in that area so hopefully it will be an even and prolific fruiter.

But it is all hocus pocus really until you actually test the results of the clone.

Personally I wouldn't clone the largest one.  I'd clone 1 of the faster growing, nicer looking ones.  Alot of ppl like large ones just for the look of them - but as fruit size goes up, the % of active goes down.  It's nothing huge, but if you had 2 eighths - 1 comprised of 2 large shrooms vs. 1 of 10 smaller shrooms - the eighth of the smaller ones would contain more actives on average.  This is the same concept as 2 eighths - 1 comprised of closed-cap fruits vs. fully mature fruits - the smaller ones would contain more actives, on average.

I think J3illy and nibin have some points here. A clear descreprency exists to show smaller fruits contain more actives. So the quickest most prolyphic strains should be a good target to clone.

However it's possible the large ones may be good as well. May I suggest doing multipule LCs?

They have to grow more for me to decide... Full Sized, Spore cumming monsters are the best... unless you prefer the sterile fruits, which still you need them to be full sized to know what your getting.

I like to Isolate from clones and find the best fruiter/colonizer that way..... cause you know its gonna fruit, just not how prolifically or large

I clone the fastest growing and biggest pin from the first flush. Why? The myc is in the fastest state of cell division and this usually makes for a really aggressive clone that puts out tons of fruits. Cloning 2nd flush and later large fruits because of their size doesn't make much sense. The mushrooms from those flushes have much less competition for nutrients, which has a lot to do with their size in the first place and the rate of cell division in more mature mushrooms has slowed.
