Here's some old climbing photos of me and my friends. I'll use the thumbnail option, so click on the image for full-size. There are hundreds of these fuckers, so I'll periodically load a few into this thread when I feel like it...
A friend climbing a 5.9+ Off-Width Crack on some local basalt outside Boise, Idaho.
5.8(?) on very old granite at the City of Rocks, SouthEastern Idaho

I was just outside having a smoke thinking about my old climbing partner!
He is one of my best friends. We were art students together, and we were in a retro-punk band together. We took lots of acid together, shared a whore or two, and even shared a girlfriend (but at different times). We were both highly competitive pool players, and we used to dominate the dojo every thursday night at our local bar. I?m sure there?s much more that escapes me at the moment?
I spent two seasons of full-time rock climbing with him, and we co-authored the local climbing guide together. I trusted him with my life almost daily. It was for this reason, that I trusted him to take me back to New Jersey for my second attempt at rapid heroin detox under anesthesia.
It was hard on him, as it was for many, when I had my many long years of serious iv drug addiction. He was worried about me, but he didn?t understand my absolute thirst for hard living and experience. To me all those years of dangerous abuse were simply one more challenging climb.
He was, and always will be, a good friend!
An easy, but fun and picturesque 5.7, at the City of Rocks, SouthEastern Idaho

I REALLY am interested in rock climbing. How does one get into it? We used to have a indoor rock climbing place in this city...but it closed up. Now there is nothing. Is there any tips, exercises(hands, etc) ?
I would love the feeling of getting to the top of something and just enjoying the view. i imagine it is a feeling like no other. must feel like quite an accomplishment huh?

check out local indoor rock climbing gyms and there you'll find info about clubs and stuff. Taking beginner courses is a good idea, theres a lot of basic stuff you need to know about it. Theres also guides you can hire to take you out that provide equipment and will teach you the basics (equipment is hella expensive). At indoor gyms you can rent shoes, harness, there too. stuff you need to go on your own like cams, nuts (artificial anchors) ropes, etc. are pretty expensive.
well good luck!~
