they take out your blood in like 3 minute cycles, take out the plasma (white blood cells) then put the red ones back into you...at the end of the donation they pump saline solution into you to "replace" the white blood cells, theres really no drawbacks to it unless like someone said the people at the center are retards and cant find your veins....on the upside, if they  "poke" you on both arms and miss both times they give you money anyway and let you leave.

its really a big thing here in the midwest, our unemployment is high, lots of college kids...they have 3 donation centers within 10 minutes of here lol..

i hope more people go, they use the plasma to treat immune deficiencies and burn victims and stuff...the stuff is really useful and a lot of people need it.

haha, yeah one time this one girl was setting me up and had just stuck the needle in.. they tape it to your arm to keep it in place, and the tape stuck to her glove, so when she turned to walk away it ripped out the needle. the arm band was constricting my arm, forcing blood out and it looked like a fountain. it was shooting up a couple inches out of my arm :lol: some people may be disturbed by that, but i found it funny. so they gave me money, a biolife t-shirt to replace the one that got blood all over it, and let me go home.

i've definitely gone a little too stoned before and it caused my heart rate to be "irregular", whatever that means. and i couldn't donate.

Actually, they don't keep any of your blood. They separate your blood from plasma in a machine then return your blood to you. All of this has been explained earlier on in this thread.

Yep. Smoking the sacred herb will sometimes to raise your pulse rate in certain social situations. Some would attribute this to social anxiety. I have other thoughts.

There is no way im giving plasma. That can't be good for you in the long run if you do this often. I would feel like i was shaving years off my life, like they were drawing my life force instead of just fluid.

I tried once in college, and the day I went in they said I had a fever and wouldn't let me give. When they took my temp it was like 99.something. I was healthy and sober. And never went back. Oh well.

I understand why a lot of people automatically associate plasma donation with fear; Fear of needles, fear of un-sterile conditions, fear of the unknown...  But i find Liposuction, plastic-surgery, stem-cell research, open-heart surgery etc. to be more "freaky". Though "freaky" is an adjective I only use with things i have no experience with. Humans have a problem with becoming desensitized, and you'd be suprised what you'd become used to.
Taking psychedelics is not for everyone, and neither is plasma donation.
Plasma is not your life-force and your life-force cannot even be gauged by machines. Most guys wouldn't have a problem donating sperm because it doesn't involve needles and you get off in the process. It would seem to me sperm is more a life-force, or the seed to the life force. A better argument is that donating plasma can take from your "whole", and i'm more worried about it screwing up my hormones in the long-run then anything.
In all honesty, I started donating plasma for some extra money to spend on herb. I thought it was wildy ironic that even though i'm not a heroin junkie, i was still getting track marks for my drug-use. Now, the money I get from donating is essential to paying my monthly bills. I am stuck in this illusory cycle of needing money to survive. It really is indentured servitude.
