modern man lives in a sea of new radiation. thats kind of novel.

radio frequencies and cell phones and the shit coming off our monitor can all correctly be labeled radiation right?

It is very different in terms of environment and culture in my opinion, but yet I still think the human condition remains fairly well intact-

survive;repopulate;surplus;reflection;civilization;progress

...something like that anyway...

i think the value of the individual has steadily progressed over time, generally speaking.

i also think excluding technological advances impeaches a lot of relevant things that could be considered differences.  technology has completely changed man, and excluding it would leave you with a very unbalanced view of the world.

Th technological advances are a direct reflection of our intelligence, knowledge and understanding.

Intelligence is the evolutionary trait that separates humans from other species on this planet.  It is the difference.

We have more control over out destiny and role in society (not complete control, but more).  However this, and every other distinction mentioned here, in intimately connected to technological advance.  Technology has defined us as a species and been a part of our evolution for hundreds of thousands of years to the point where we cannot live without it.  Trying to understand human progress without technology would be like studying birds, but ignoring flight.  It just doest make sense.

well, perhaps.. but this statement is kind of deceiving. 

understanding is relative to knowledge.  for example, if there are only 3 things to know in the universe, and you understand 1 of these three things, then you have a 33% understanding.  If there are 100 things to know, and you know 10, you have a 10% understanding.

although in the first scenario you have a higher percentage of understanding, you have less understanding than the second scenario.  for this reason, i conclude that because the knowledge pool was smaller in the past, it does not mean that we are any less able to understand.

so, i think your correct but not through the intended model. 

i hope this post makes sense, i'm having trouble wrapping my mind around it to be honest.
