creatine monohydrate?
    #9381348 -

Does this stuff really work?

If so is the weight/ strength you put on maintainable or will I lose it when I discontinue use of creatine.

I haven't noticed an increase in strength...just weight as it causes water retention in the muscles...just excess fluid. When creatine is gone, weight is gone.

It never made me sick...I just didn't get the point of retaining fluid.

seriously doubt it was due to the creatine.

take 5 grams after waking up on an empty stomach with water, consume breakfast ~20 mins after.
see how that treats you.

NO xplode/cell mass FTW.

With a CONTINUED regimen you do put on more muscle. This is because you can pump harder, so even with the loss of residual water weight you still have the strength you wouldn't have otherwise.

This doesn't apply if you use it for a brief two weeks and don't push yourself.

Re: creatine monohydrate? [Re: Green_T]

Seriously, the best thing I have ever used for the gym was freshly juiced greens with some fruit.  Before my blender broke (after 1 week, so I got a vita-mix for 10x more, lol) I was making lots of fresh juice from greens like kale, lettuce, spinach.  I drank lots of fresh fruit juice in the morning, along with a bunch of greens juice, then some protein powder with Maca(this stuff rocks too).  I went to the gym that day and it was ridiculous, I was lifting more than I ever had and going so hard without tiring.

Now the best part, the next day I was only a little sore, and I was like It's gonna come because I had gone so hard, but I kept drinking the juice and once evening came around, no soreness.  This is really unheard of for me, I did 3 sets of bench, each to failure then 2 extra reps with little help, which on my prior diet had kept me sore for 2-3 days.

Raw fruits and veggies have so much more power than most people realize.  Now that I have dropped milk, cheese, most meat, bread and most grains (eat sparingly), my lifting has gotten so much better, along with everything else in life too really.

I am actually losing weight, mostly or all fat, but getting stronger.  The key is that raw veggies have 5x more nutrients than cooked ones, but they take lots of time to digest those nutrients, but taking them as juice just gives your body a huge dose quickly so it can kick some ass!

"A human being is part of the whole, called by us 'Universe'; a part limited in time and space. He experiences himself, his thoughts and feelings as something separated from the rest -- a kind of optical delusion of his consciousness.

This delusion is a kind of prison for us, restricting us to our personal desires and affection for a few persons nearest us.

Our task must be to free ourselves from this prison by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole nature in its beauty.

Nobody is able to achieve this completely but striving for such achievement is, in itself, a part of the liberation and a foundation for inner security."

i love creatine, im taking it right now actually, be sure to load up for about a week before taking only the maintenance amount... for about 5 days ill take 20 grams a day split between 4 times.  then for the rest of the month ill take 2.5 grams a day after my workouts... you will also have to wash out for another month, these are called cycles...  you get stronger and your muscles plump up!  when you stop taking it you will lose weight, NOT muscle!  the weight you are losing is the water weight your muscles were holding....

yes. this is precisely why most people stopped taking the 'old school' creatine, where one has to 'load' and puts on only water weight.

its crap.  alot of it gets broken down in your gut and converted into creatinine.  not to mention again the water bloat.  Too much effort, not worth the hassle.  And it's not like you gain heaping amounts of muscle and strength.  Only a good diet and proper exercise with heavy compound lifts will do that, and if you ever wanted to gain serious mass then you could consider the sauce.

IMO if you're gonna do creatine, get any buffered creatine (usually come in gel tab form), such as Purple K.

You can also take the buffered creatine supplement and take it alongside beta-alanine, a relatively new supplement in the scene that equals a powerful combo.  These two are pretty much the only two 'natural' supplements that are proven to work.

Personally, I think exercising properly with a good diet is all you need.  However, being able to pump out a few more reps while on these supplements is beneficial.

I have tried them and I certainly think they help, though I will honestly attribute that to 90% placebo effect.

Any muscle mass or strength increases that you put on naturally are maintainable.

What is not maintainable is extreme muscle mass from taking AAS.  Also, you can only maintain what you got if you keep using it and eating right.

I say forget the creatine and just stay consistent for 2 years atleast.

Creatine is a natural substance and its pretty healthy as long as you drink A LOT OF WATER. It'll help with strength and size gains, but not too a tremendous amount.

i prefer not to put chemicals like that into my body at all
for myself it just feels unatural

You never post any proofs for your assertions and you, IMO, are almost always wrong.

I worked in the natural foods industry for over twenty years. I have used creatine and have friends who are long term users. Guess what? Not one report of kidney stones came by me.

And to the OP, yes it works.

True about 90% of gains are lost in my estimation.

The best why to use it IMO is to only use it for a couple of months when you start weight training or restart after a lay off. The quick gains are very encouraging and will get you with the program. Then drop it and keep working out hard; you will hardly notice.
