LIquid culture to dehydrater???

Has anyone tried to overgrow a liquid culture like the staments tech. but let it go until it is almost gooo. Then straight to the dehydrater! They have those plastic trays which are made for making fruit roll ups, I thought that it would make a great shroomy powder, fast and easy ??? Well tech heads any thoughts, I have not tried it yet but it would only be a 10 day process at tops. Use azur of course to keep potency up??? well love to know your thoughts.

It's worth a try you should give it a shot. I don't think it would be near as effiecient as using the mycelium to create fruit bodies though.

Of course it is possible to do, but the real question is wether the mycelium has appreciable quantaties of psylocybin in it. Is there a definitive answer to this question? I've seen statements claiming mycelium has no psylocybin, and some claiming it has equal concentrations as fruitbodies.

Just do any quart of a liquid myc tek, like honey water. Then, filter out the myc & fan dry it, then ingest it. You will find the myc will give you a tiny tingle, but no great buzz.

Myc generaly has just enough active compounds in it to get you busted. But, not enough to take you on a decent trip. The raccoon supposes if you ingest large amounts, it might give you a better buzz. But, still would not compare with fruits.

Growing out fruits is the way to go :smile:.

At least that is the raccoons humble opinion.

  I thought Gartz did some study on the relative and actual levels of psylocybin and psylocin in P. Cubensis.  I could be wrong , but I thought there was normally a 10 or 15-1 ratio by dried mass.  So instead of ingesting 4 grams of dried You'd have to ingest 40grams!  *ugh*  Doesn't seem to be an efficient way of going about getting the "goodies"  :smile:

all i know is that azur mycillium turns jet black when cut. I associate this phenomina whith its activity. It does it more so than any other active strain and is the most active strain. Perhaps it is faulty logic but i am biased in that light. Further when I think of ps mex sclerotia i think of activity of mycilium. I do not remember the ratio for mexicana sclerotia compared to the fruits but the levels are slightly lower. I was thinking of using the same ratio to ballance the dosage for azur mycilium. When doing this I will use a 2000 ml erlemier flask witha stir bar in front of a hepa filter or with a cotton top soaked with H2O2/water solution with foil on top. The forumulas for the mix are in staments book. I think that this is the best way to grow it out and keep available nutrients evenly distributed. The dosage may have to be triple like 4.5g instead of 1.5. But if that is the case that is ok with me. I will put it in a high protein shake like spirotine with a banana and some tropicle juice of some sort. Any how, I enjoy all of your feedback and will take all of the possibilities into account.

I once left around a honeywater culture way too long, and basically there was no need to add gelatin. It'd become a solid mass, with only a film of water on the surface. Very weird going down, but no effects. :tongue:

You sound like you've never grown azur or any other mushrooms for that matter.

actually in this case you would end up ingestiong somewhere between 15-30 grams dried. (haven't had a chance to confirm the ratios yet). That's a fair amount of dried material. Also keep in mind that unless you have _very_ sterile conditions the chances of contams are greater with liquid culture and can be harder to recognize. Would be unfortunate if you ingested a bunch of Ps. Aeruginosa endospores with your "trip" shake (or any other nasties)

Yeh, I totally agree about the sterility of the situation. I would not drink, or eat, anything questionable; ever! However I do think it to be plausable. After seeing some of the litterature on ps mex, I think that like 1/2 to 2/3 of that dose to be about right. So, if ps mex recomended dosage is 15 gs of sclerotia; then like 7 to 10 grams of azur. Although, I do not know what the %moisture of sclerotia is. If someone had some sclerotia around and could weigh it out, and then totally dehydrate in or dry it in the oven on VERY low temp and then weigh it again, it would be much appreciated! Because I want to compare based on dry mass. this could bring it down to only having to injest like 4 to 10 grams. If I have to experiment, I will but I will start at very low amounts like 2 grams max.

I think sclerotia is about 68% water. Sclerotia is not myclium though, it is more like a compacted fruit body in terms of alkaloid concentrations. If it stains it is psilocin oxidizing; this does not necessarily indicate a high level (or even the presence) of psilocybin in the mycelium though...

Be interesting to hear your results though.

I already did this very thing. TMC reports 30% dry matter in sclerotia. Below are my results from a 3 month old quart jar containing 1 cup of grass seed.

119 wet grams dried to 40.7 grams = 34.2% dry matter

Hey workman:)  Spore Works Rocks!  anyhow, check out my idea for using a kegerator for fruity azurs under the frig for fruiting article.  just an idea; i seem to remember you trying it out with a frig or something.
