Festival hopping
    #9398270 -

I graduate next fall and am planning on just fesitval hopping in the summer and working in the winter for a couple of years. How many of you make a life of festival hopping?

Yeah, not entirely sure what you mean... I will be living on the road for the Spring and Summer and will prob be at a lot of festivals, but not a vendor if you mean that...

I meant just shaping your life around getting to the shows, not making a living or anything.

You will probably have to sell something to maintain (drugs, food, glass), unless you save up alot of money during the winter time. You plan on doing this for a few years? I have seen some people who do it for a few years and I can't really imagine that they would go back to what people would consider "regular society". I would love to do this though, i'm probably going to be doing a bit of fest hopping this summer. You'll have to tell me what your gonna hit, maybe ill see ya.

I hit up about 5 festivals this summer.

Next summer i will try to go to at least 2 each month.

It can get very expensive with travel costs and ticket costs as high as $265 (rothbury).

I have one suggestion and that is to get WET.

Sign up for WET, they will email you info about upcoming festivals and allow you a chance to "work" in exchange for a free ticket.

The work is very hard such as standing next to the stage during performances to make sure no drunk people get backstage or walking around talking to people.

Yea I was talking about working during the winter and hopping in the summer. I am not sure what fesitvals I will hit yet for the upcoming summer, Allgood for sure because its mad close to where I live in PA, and ive been there the last 2 years and its a great time, raw drug debauchery (however spelled) but I would like to get across the country for sure this year.

if you're in the NE, you should definatly hit up camp bisco.  It's a half hour from albany.

That place was raging hard last year.  Security is some harley biker gang.

I drive, it's going to be a lot better this summer with gas prices at a low. Other then that, usually you can hitch rides with someone from one fest to the next if you try hard enough and have a little money for gas.

There is some kind of bus service that does, but is kind of expensive. Im going to Greyhound, rideshare and hitch my way around the East, but I have a friend w a bus on the west coast which Ill be riding to events over there. You can find rides on websites like Philzone, Bob Weir's  site, etc etc. as well...
Bisco would be cool. Im actually going to see the Biscuits for the first time on 12/30. Ive been into the jam scene for a while now but have never really gotten around to the Biscuits since they never really spoke to me too much, but I have some friends who have prevailed upon me to give it a fair shot live. If I really like the show Im going to, I could foreseeably hit up Camp...

Nice man, I am going to the new years show the next night, it's gonna be great. I like biscuit shows because they are fun to get drunk at and dance. They are definitely different from other Jam Bands and the crowd is pretty out there, wait until you meet the Bisco kids.  :flowstone:  :prance:
