Hippy Jam Band Festival Food
    #8996481 -

Hello, it's me paradis again.

I wanted to ask this question to you people who go to the concerts/festivals like lesh&friends and phish, etc

What kind of foods would you like to see being sold? What do you usually buy?

I hear "grilled cheese" a lot.

I don't get that, but hey, whatever people like. Someone said a lot of folks at these fests are vegetarian, and I never really thought about that. What about veggie burgers?

Anyway, the end

Your friend,
-paradis

Funny you should mention grilled cheese; at Bonnaroo there are these kids who make thousands of dollars selling grilled cheeses for a dollar a sandwich.  They're there every year.

Personally, I would like something portable that I can walk around with and not have to worry about spilling the food all over myself or the ground.  I also like eating somewhat healthy at a multi-day fest so something with a lot of vegetables would be cool.

garlic grilled cheese. Garlic is good, but the smell is what gets the passers by. Plus, its rarer and rarer anymore.

From my understanding it is sort of a staple.

There are many healthy options, but someone told me he used to sell cheeseburgers for 3 bucks or 2 for five. He said he would normally leave a show with about 600 bucks in his pocket. Other than that though its hit or miss, I have been shut down and told to move several times this summer.

I like the panini sandwiches. They're KIND OF like grilled cheese but usually have other shit in them besides just cheese, like meat or veggies or both. And if there's a booth selling pizza, I'm there.

A few years ago at a 2 night Phish run I was hanging out with some people that were selling grilled cheeses.  They eventually ran out of cheese and changed their sales call from "grilled cheese!" to "bread sandwiches!"  It was just two or three pieces of buttered toasted bread stacked.  And people were actually buying them.  This was right on the main walk/shakedown street  whatever you call it, and it was late in the day so I guess a lot of people were fucked up from smoking, drinking and or tripping all day.  People were loving the bread sandwich.

What would be better, grilled cheese, or just like coldcut turkey and cheese sandwiches.  For $1

Sandwich, chips, pickle, and can of soda for $3.

shroomism- you need hot grease for falafels. I guess maybe I could use a frydaddy hooked to a car cigarette lighter, haha

How much would a falafel wrap go for at these things?

I usually prepare my own food at fests. I bring some eggs, bacon, rice, beans, soup, bread. I would like more ideas too, if anyone has any good Festival Recipes.

shit, at Roo in 05.. this vendor was selling falafel wraps for like $7-8 each. They were good as shit though... and huge.

Alternatively, I think one of the best foods I've bought at a fest was a veggie wrap.. sliced carrots, cucumber, tomatoes, huge globs of hummus, avocado? and mozzarella cheese.. shit was dank, and I'm not vegetarian.

veggie burgers are gross and processed.  you could make more money (cuz its cheaper) and it would be better food to cook up rice/beans/guacamole etc and make burritos.

You won't be getting anything for those prices. My panini was like $6. But it was hot and cheesy and turkey-filled. And that was just what I needed.

Really, you should just take one of those tiny kettle grills, some coals, and some various meat products. Pork chops, add rice, whatever. Grill that shit up and feast like a king while everyone else camping around you is eating granola and crappy $5-a-bag apples.
