Nuclear weapons come to mind among a great variety of other things.

it may vaporize everything but the matter has simply been converted

No, the mass before the weapon detonates is more than the mass after it detonates.  Some matter goes away, it gets turned into energy.

Destroying mass is easier than creating mass in practice, but it can go the other way too.

The modern version of that conservation law is the theory of conservation of mass/energy meaning that you can destroy mass only if it converts to energy, and you can destroy energy by converting it to mass.  But even that only applies over long periods of time, there is no conservation of energy/mass at all over short periods of time.

That only shows that myths perpetuated about him are inconsistent.  It proves nothing at all about if Jesus the man existed or not.

The myths surrounding LSD are inconsistent too, but it certainly exists.

But I can show you a LSD tab, and prove to you that it is LSD by having you take it.

How can you prove to me that Jesus ever lived?
Or is the "Son of God"

Same way I look for evidence that any historical figure existed... from alexander the great to jeasus to john kennedy.  They all died before I was born, so I use historical evidence to judge if they existed.  For all three of those characters there happens to be copious amounts of evidence from a variety of disparate sources, leading me to believe that all three of them existed.

Now there are many myths surrounding all three of them, and I dont necessarily believe the myths of course.

I think it's no question that they existed, but is he really the almighty creator of everything like the bible says???

I don't believe it, but hey if it works for you...More power to you.

No, that mass comes from food.  That is the rearrangement of mass you referred to earlier.

I dont know if you really dont get it, or if you are just digging in...  mass can be created and it can be destroyed.  The end.

i suppose im just too much of a logic/reason person to understand how someone could believe in intelligent design while also prescribing to modern scientific knowledge.

*mass is never destroyed, it's converted to energy
**nvm you said it already

Now you are confusing intelligent design with religion again.  The thread is about religion.

People can believe in intelligent design and not be religious, and also they can be religious and not believe in intelligent design.  Broaden your horizons and youll see there are alot of religious people out there who are not evangelicals.

true, but intelligent design is an attempt at making a compromise that isn't needed, but i guess Christianity doesn't represent all religion

Not even close.  And again, most christians do believe in evolution.  Thats official catholic stance, and catholic is by far the biggest sect of christianity.

i was raised as a catholic, so that's pretty much what I've experienced first hand.

I guess my main point is that I find any religion to be illogical and only detrimental to the advancement of human knowledge about our universe.

everyone can believe what they want though, so live it up i guess, just don't blow up my house because jesus told you to.

It is simple really.

Outlaw religion.

Getting rid of a perceived 'problem element' in society has been tried a million times and it does not work.  Here's why: each side considers the other to be the problem.  If the problem element were to disappear or be destroyed, we'd just single out another one.

The call to outlaw religion and kill preachers is the on same level of thinking as the Spanish Inquisition and the Holocaust.  It is just another we're-right-they're-wrong, destroy-what-we-hate-and-we'll-be-okay philosophy.

The problem is human behavior in general.  We are still too inefficient at being anything more than animals.  We're only a few millenia into civilization; we're just cavemen in fancy clothes at the moment.  Until we can realize that we ALL are capable of both virtuous and atrocious behavior, we will not see any kind of harmony on a large scale.  People across all kinds of cultures are pretty much the same when you get past superficial cultural differences.  Recognizing that is a good place to start.

Welcome evermore to gods and men is the self-helping man.  For him all doors are flung wide: him all tongues greet, all honors crown, all eyes follow with desire.  Our love goes out to him and embraces him, because he did not need it.

I'm yet to find any evidence of that including in reference to nukes, anyway, who was there to measure the mass

anyway, mass and matter are not the same, mass is an amount of matter

If jesus did tell someone to blow up your house, would christians endorse his actions?

If he was crazy would you blame anything the guy said for his actions?

Religion is annoying because noone believes the same shit, they just taylor it to their own intent.  Regardless, religion on it's own can't blow up shit.
