I agree and disagree...I hate religion in the fact that people shun others because of the religion they choose...

Well, what do you mean by get rid of it??? Not allow it at all?? Or just take it out of schools, and things like this...Or make it illegal??

I think there is a lot more to the worlds problems than just religion. Greed/Anger/Lust/Gluttony would be a few that come to mind, and just happen to be the topics many religions focus on and try to teach people to avoid.

Its not perfect by any means, but I think idealistically that it is an attempt to try to teach people the value of living a good life. They just do it in a very symbolic and allegorical way. (While a few idiots take things far too literally while missing the point)

The boy who cried wolf isn't necessarily just a story about a boy who was eaten by a wolf after 3 nights.

Virtually every war ever started was based (in part) on religious views.

How does that make religion a good thing?

Take out religion and wars will be started over other things (money, land, power, etc.)
Let's not forget that many modern wars don't deal with religion.

Incorrect.  Youre just ignoring the vast majority of wars to support your views. 

In antiquity, wars were not fought over religion they were fought over political power, just as in the 20th century.  Egypt, Persia, Greece, Rome... none of those major conflicts were fought over religion.  They were fought for political control, and the combatants were usually mercenaries fighting for money only.  Zoom forward to the 20th century, and you have the same thing.. wars fought for political control, where the combatants fight because of nationalism.

Only a small minority of conflicts in history were religion based.  A fact that intolerant atheists distort to suit their agenda.

because the fundamental ills of corruption, greed, power-madness, etc. made their way into religion, just like they've made their way into business, law, etc. religion didn't cause the existence of these ills.
it's absolutely crazy to think that.

i'm not flaming but that would cause more problems don't you think?
i mean they already take away our freedom in this worlds if they took away people religion there would be a holy war 100x worse then the one thats going on now..
