Went back out today with TLTS and found a few more patches! They were aged a bit but we pulled anywhere from 4 to 5 pounds of healthy ones in about 30 minutes.

Here is one of the fruitings around the base of a tree. As you can see, someone took a few stomps on the clusters. We weren't too bummed as there were fat groupings like this all around us.

These cyans were growing directly from the base of the tree, not the surrounding chips. The tree was some type of conifer, I'm guessing a douglas fir.

I wish we had gotten to these earlier. There was maybe 3 or 4 pounds in the grass around us that had gone on for too long. As you can see they don't look very healthy.

Some more

Nope. This season has been fairly warm and dry so far. I wouldn't be surprised if we saw more rain and temps in the 40s through december. If thats the case, the season has just begun. Who knows, the seasons been out of wack thus far, why woudn't it continue to be?

I've found cyans early september and well into January, with cold temps and frost.
Also i've seen post's of cyans in snow.
Dont let the approximate season duration fool you, they could grow before and after season usually starts.
After all, it is november the mushroom month!

Anyway, Vc77 and I did have a pretty good hunt today.
Some of the biggest sized cyans I have ever seen were stumbled upon, I wish my damn sclale would work!

Some of the gnarly clusters:

Some cute lil guys we left to thrive:

For some reason this one tickle's my fancy:

As you can see, rain would be nice :foshizzle:

You guys have some really neato pictures.  I've never seen cyans fruiting off a tree, so that's really neat.  Good job y'all!

Hey vc77 - looks like the Gym @cro and I found growing over the doorway of our house!  Second flush is up right now

Here are some pics from the weekend, most of what we found was old like these guys.

But we still found some nice patches.

Here is a good reason not to pic pins, this is the same patch @cro posted in his last post

We spent a lot of the day hunting around some popular areas as we were there anyways (ran into spores as well ), and just as we were walking back to the car near dusk we found a huge patch - alot of them were either dried out or old but when you moved the leaves around we managed to get quite a few!  I'm sure we missed a lot as the sun was going down rapidly and it was really hard to see.  But we were pretty happy as this is a fairly busy area for pickers.  Should be real nice with some rains.

Notice them growing right next to another species of mushroom - it's always good to double check what you've got even when you're knee deep in a big patch

The haul from this patch

Stuff is still up but not that many pins - we need some rain!

Happy hunting

Awesome pics! From the looks of your pictures and what I've been seeing around the Tacoma area, things are really drying up. What the hell!

About your picture with the different species growing next to the cyans...

like you said its good to check your shrooms but also make sure to watch out for spore deposits from poisonous mushroom on the caps of the ones growing nearby
