Receiving a formal education

I'd really like to get a formal education.  Maybe it was the way I was raised, but I feel like if I don't, I'm going to end up a loser my entire life.  I'm nearly 26 years old so I'm behind already...I just want to be edjamacated.  Looks like I might get an opportunity to go back to school pretty soon.  So do you think if I don't go to college I will end up a loser?

i dont think not going to college will make you a loser.
I think it matters more on what you do with the rest of your life, afterwards.

Yeah, I think if you spend a shit load of money and don't do shit afterwards that makes you more of a loser than if you just don't do shit. School isn't the end all be all, merely a stepping stone.

No, college will not change your loser status.  You can be a loser or a winner with or without college.  That said, Im really into my college education and value the things I learn for their own sake (not for some notion of being rich, or impressing others).

it depends what you go in for. dont waste time with a Bachelor of Arts, go Bachelor of Science.

try to get something worthwile, like a Finance degree, something that will actually get you a job. for the love of god dont go for music, communications, or liberal arts.

theres a high chance that you will never make back the money it cost to get that degree, at least not in any field that you might get a job in (small chance) with that degree.

not to be an asshole, but thats a major waste of money and time.

All degrees from liberal arts universities are usually considered 'liberal arts degrees'.  The alternative is some shitte tech trade thing like ITT/Devry, or a proper technical institution like a school of mines.

If you have to take classes from subjects that are not your major you are getting liberal arts degree, which is the best kind of degree!

I assume by 'liberal arts' you guys are talking about fine arts or something like that?

No, liberal arts can also mean literature, political "science", philosophy, etc.

Only go to college if you want to.

You are never to old to go back to school.
