the next day i woke up , this was what i saw
mexico is full of places like this that only a few people  know about , mostly foreigneir and locals ..
the vegetation around there is mostly pine and oaks , with pinus ocote and pinus humbolstzi being the most  commmond also pinus douglasiana, the oaks  quercus longifolia, quercus  resinosa, and other i can`t id, in ravines , another tipe of fores prevale  is call bosque de galeria , and alnus , salix, oaks, and magnolia are present,

maybe galerina real rare here i save it.

not real sure omphalotus ?

Beege i wish you could show us around , i know how terrible is to not be able to post pictures , beliveme  i know ..

canid , they look like it , but iam not sure what this plant where maybe some sort of labiatae , but if not leanotis , we have leonotis leonorus here i will show you pictures once i found a few they are pretty abundant .

i visit a new place , here is where  the most conservate forest of jalisco are , some of this forest are growing since the pleistocene , so the vegetation around there is very rare from the other forest , some of the trees there are extremely rare in mexico , as . maple tree(acer skutchii), podocarpus sp,
fraxinus udehi, populus sp, and many rare oaks and clethra sp, arbutus xalapensis etc. pines too.

here i found tentative a new specie since they are so small some of then ,




some are more big and have slight diferences in colors  and the scaly stems

some where rot

and have not rain  but the humedity is hight and they soak water from the river .

cactu you make jalisco (i think thats where those shots are from) look like a mushroom hunters paradise! you have made me want to visit your region with all your spectacular imagery. :lol: i remember a long long time ago when you didnt have a very good camera, my how far you have come in this forum! :thumbup:

gracias landsnorkler .is the same when i see your threads i`love to be there too.

DannyGlick iam glad  you like it ,  we where looking for the maple forest , we found it late and the light was going out.



that night  we found a place to camp and  rain a bit in the highhess part of the mountain ..
the next day was a sunny day ,  we stay in a flat area where something tell you is there . and i begging searching around since i alway wake up early .

in this area almost 3000 meters above sea level this type of plant grow, abies religiosa , pinus douglasiana, pinus hartewegii, and quercus cocolofolia , quercus salicifolia , and more i can`t id. but with small leaves mostly ,not to much podocarpus a few salix in the rivers .


this is one collection

and this is another note how many small ones are i did not bring papers to separate all but all i can say is i will thread all individual as diferents,and see what i can find

i was looking and found that inside the forest  most of the action have wear out, but i did found a few speciemens in a mossy enviroment,
inocybe geophylla var. lilacina


gonphidium  sp

i move out to the edge of the forest where looger do what logger do and i found  more mushroms there , some sort of ganoderma 



not really sure about this ones  never seem some ganoderma so pale , all this forest have diferent mycophlora new to me next  trametes.


here is sunny and in a few minutes is not



and then i see this

inmediatly  my radar was bepping , i knew i have to searh the area, , a small river past by there , so al was present wood, water, i was overwelmt by how many food was there and how few mushrooms ,
when i was almost lossing it, i said to miself , well this sun can kill anithing i will look for the shadow area of the mountain and where the wood meet the grass ,or where old wood is buried, and after a long searh i found this cluster i see this cluster 4 meter away from me in the grass, is the firs time i found then in open area of the forest  with grass , but is some of the habitad mentioned  for psilocybe in mexico , well here it was my firt sigh ,

every one that have a strong conection with psilocybe can id then from the distance and fell the strong joy that acompanied the find all the time, fell their presence, i have hear it from many hunter, the glows , the aura etc.
i do fell then , in fact they where calling me and viceversa since i was looking for a place to sleep and you know how is to pass many places that where ok to sleep and fell is not the right one, well we sleep , 100 meters from this find , that was fucking close , only mushrooms know the power!

i found a patch as you said, with the big cluster and few other scatered cespitose finds.

Truely Beautiful ! Cactu you are very fortunate. I travel to Mexico every year. I love the place and the people. I am driving down in April of 09' to Oaxaca. My Wife and I and my dog. I plan on staying three weeks total in Mexico. I will be driving through Guadalajara sooo, maybe I will have to look you up when I get there.

- yes , si , is my first impresion some are so tiny i dont know how to make the cut to look it in the microscope i need small hands, this are some pictures of the spores of the tiny ones , and yes this is jalisco , es maravilloso si sabes donde buscar. men when are you comming  over make sure is in the rainy season , well  unless you wanna go to the desert come in the dry season

for sure my friend the shroomery , is  getting better and better  every day with the help of all . iam really honored that  some friends like alan and many other decide to donate me a camera, some people dont even know that , that my camera was given  by my friends,... all the people i have meet here and i will meet in person some day , are really importand . so that why i try to share all i can , i fell the need to teach people what i know , to learn from others .

Ice House Shaman:  you should  make a stop  in cactu  world ,i only wish you could make in may and june  men and you are going to oaxaca, i`ll join you but in june or better in july :yesnod:..if you are going to oaxaca in the dry season is like you where never there , in oaxaca you can find  what i only dream of, i have been in oaxaca 4 times , i know many places to pick mushrooms there , i have found a couple when i was and unexperience hunter, ohhh oaxaca, i can`t even end with jalisco yet , imaging oaxaca, mexico does not have lot of diversity , mexico is Mega divesity that how is call,, becase the diversity here is overwellmend ,  in oaxaca are at least 32 especies of active one  but my idea is there are like 50 ............





and here are some of the big one in my last set of pictures  wich i presume are in the section coridsporae , the spores look romboid and subromboid what you think? and are more small that the other tiny species .

one of the last hunt of la primavera

the last psilocybe villarealae



Lactarius indigo  and a  Anole nebulosus



boletus sp  you can see the  brown spore print deposit in leaves and soil


suillus sp


funnel web spider


as last year in this location i always find  Lactarius indigo with this shape, like if they where infected by some hypomyces  or they where mutated , well i eat then last year so this too.

white slime

the last ramaria flava , a bit dry but make it for the last patita de pajaro  meal of the season

The first spore pics you posted remind me a lot of the spores from the small zapotecorum species from Colima.  The second are closer to the caerulescens, but these are even rounder sometimes, I have never seen almost round spores in Psilocybe.

oh sorry i forgot to say la primavera forest is a forest close to my house ...:grin:



exactly that what they remind me too,alan  the small ones from colima,

the second have  many round spores a few romboid to subromboid and some with rare eliptic look
i will make more studie in the other specimen to see if i can find more diferences
i also find a few other  in my second trip there i have not show you yet when i do get to the maple forest , there i found some rare ones too , but a bit old.
