Just a thought, though I do think SOMETHING will happen, I'm not at all sure what. It is at the end of the term of our new president though, maybe Obama's policies set this change in motion?

So, apart from the Mayan calender ending, what is suppoosed to happen? 

We don't know if the poles will shift, asteriods will hit the Earth, nuclear war will erupt, or disease will sweep the planet.  These are all conjecture that somehow get tied to this Mayan calender date for no fucking reason.  Any of these could happen this year or 100,000 years from now.

I must be missing something.  And don't say the fucking Bible Code.

Well, someone else had some calculation that came out to that day, and timewave zero, in which the T-Mac says that that will be wneh our universe reached the highest point of novelty, so a grate change.

The Mayans aren't the only ones who predict a drastic change will occur in 2012.  The Hopi Indians, Aztecs, Incans, Mayans, Christians, Hindus, other Native American tribes in N. America and S. America, the I-Ching, and others have all made predictions about a great cosmic shift in 2012. Here are some ideas to kick around, but I imagine most will scoff at this...

It is not suspected to be the end of the world so much as a consciousness shift in humans providing a new-found awareness, but it is predicted that will stem out of some type of disaster.  Some think this cognitive shift is the next big leap in human evolution, maybe similar to when we first learned to cook food and use fire.

I don't want to come off as paranoid, but even objectively things are off.  Our infrastructure is failing and there is no end in sight.  At the hands of a catastrophic disaster, if this trend continues, the governments around the world would not be able to sum up the resources to react appropriately.

If you look at reality as a fractal, and fate as nothing but a fractal recurring on itself, one obtains the realization that time and place is always parallel. 

The human race has been rushing to progress as fast as possible at the expense of every other living thing on the planet including ourselves.  What if we are racing towards something drastic in a collective subconscious way?  What if we are preparing for something even though we don't know it, just to make it to the next portion of this fractal-like reality? What if so many are gaining weight and becoming obese because the world will become very cold?  Everybody says things are going to change and prepare for change, but why?  This is world wide.  (BTW: I find it ironic that Obama took on this iconic symbol which resulted in conservatives stocking up on artillery and weapons.)  This train of thought can be extrapolated in many ways and answer a lot of why questions.

Things have been speeding up exponentially with no explanation.  We are so involved in superficial moments we don't take the time to introspectively conclude what this all means. I think in general people are becoming more anxious, having a harder time staying focused for long periods of time (why so much ADD and ADHD), and are engulfed with contributing to our primary outsourced consciousness infrastructure, the internet. 

It might seem foolish to speculate like this, but I believe psychedelics have catalyzed these thoughts in my mind.  Psychedelics also appear to have a part in this new beginning from my research.  Scoff if you will, but drastic change is coming and I would rather be prepared for the knuckle of transition than confused at the moment it's happening.

Lol, I'm an atheist with science-based fundamentals who is extremely skeptical by nature.  I'm just kicking around observations which I feel are justified by mystic foresight and scientific explanations and inexplanations that offer a compelling outlook on something intriguing.

You can't deny we are facing an environmental and economic crisis like we've never encountered before, and I can't help but wonder why and how we got to this and where we will come out of it.

First off, the Mayan calender couldnt have predicted 2012 because what most people dont realise is that when the Mayans looked at bigger events in our history, they counted from a single starting point, not like out calenders do. So either way, 2012 is probably off according to the mayans.

I dont believe in the whole Nibiru philosophy even though I think it would be cool to have aliens riding a planet-ship towards earth every 10,000 years to check up on the beings they created. But is this plausible? Doubt it. Possible? Maybe. Do I think its happening? Hell no.

What I do believe is a more familiar adaptation of McKenna's Strange Attractor. Whether it be in 2012 or its additive inverse date, I believe that what it means for humans is a shift of evolution in our consciousness. Leary stated that our next shift is to digitize our psyche. I think thats a bunch of bullshit, too. 

What I do think is 2012 will be an election of a new president. 2012 will also likely mark the beginning of a greatly overdue extinction for humans as they are now.

Our world was here before we got here. And it will be here long after we are gone.
