I've been researching this lately, and I do believe we will have some sort  of drastic consciousness shift throughout the species, but the circumstantial variables that surround the shift are difficult to define. I do believe the way we interact with the world around us and each other will be altered by an evolved awareness.

I worry of mass extinction and epic infrastructure failure, but the cataclysmic stuff I'm still skeptical on.  I am trying to get a better idea of all mythological foresight on the matter to digest 2012 appropriately without coming off as a crackpot conspiracy theorist or religious nut (I'm an atheist after all).

What does everybody else think?

i think that people like to disguise their guesses as facts, like tv makes opinions into news :shrug:

people read up on something they support (due to their mental and psychological outlook to life) and start presenting it as the only probable reality and rejecting everything that threatens their vision, whole having to scientific or even argumentative proof. all it comes down to is "well what if" whereas they should say "i have no fucking clue whats gonna happen".
