    #9218121 -

Im thinking about only eating a bit of fish & cutting out chicken almost fully & red meat totally

What substitues can i bring into my diet to replace meat?

I already eat alot of brocoli, carrots, spinach, cucumber, nuts, fruit, rice & brown bread

Im gonna start eating chick peas more & probably more nuts

did this about a year ago, cut down to fish and chicken at first then cut those out after a while too.  Nuts and beans are your main source of protein along with things like tofu, soy burgers and the like.  Its pretty easy switch to make if u have a good reason to do it.  Start trying things like garden burgers and stuff.  Also there are tons of good nuts and seeds to eat.

Tempeh(soybeans or other grains colonized with an edible mycellium), I love the stuff! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tempeh

Lentils, tofu and seitan/gluten are great too.

Extra-firm tofu is a huge part of my diet.

Nuts, grains, beans...

I fell in love with pistachios when I stopped eating meat. I also eat a lot of quinoa, amaranth, oatmeal, beans & rice. I've been stir-frying a lot lately and so I tried marinating tofu for the first time and let me tell you - it is amazing. Tempeh is very good as well, I've made some tempeh type of egg-salad sandwiches which were tasty. Lentils are supposed to be another good one.

They are expensive and not exactly natural but you can get a fuckload of protein from shakes and bars.

Go down the nutritional aisle at your local grocery store and buy some protein bars and shakes.

Unless your doing it for moral reasons, don't totally cut out meat.  I eat alot of tuna fish.  Low fat, low cal, and a motherfucking shitload of protein in that tiny little can.

Meat, even red meat, is great for you in the right quantity.  Millions of years of evolution has made us carnivores so obviously our body wants and needs it.

Thank you.  I remember years ago that some guy from some rock band who was vegetarian was hospitalized because he had a protein deficiency from not eating meat.

It especially disgusts me when vegetarian parents don't allow their children to eat meat.  Growing children NEED alot of protein.

Yes, you can get protein from others soucres such as nuts but meat, especially white meat, is the healthiest, least fatty, most delicious, and cheapest source of protein.

Stop denying your humanity!  We are human, we need meat.  All your moral codes about the sanctity of the life of an aminal can't dispute this fact.

I just eat eggs once in a while, sprinkle a little cheese here and there, and eat cultured yogurts on a pretty regular basis. It lets me be pretty lax about meeting the full amino acid profile while still getting a good amount of protein from various sources.

wrong wrong and wrong.

that guy had a protein deficiency because he was ignorant and didnt eat the right things in place of meat.  there are millions of vegetarians worldwide, including shaolin monks, who could kick all of our asses on this website in a line, one after another without a break. they do not eat meat, and they are one of the healthiest groups of people on the planet.

to say that we NEED meat is ridiculous, because we dont.  i went vegetarian for a little over a year, and it worked fine.  i was still able to gain muscle mass no problem. they only reason i eat meat in moderation now is because i just plain like it every now and then.

tell them, that they NEED meat. theyll tell you theyve never eaten a piece in their lives.
