Yeah bars aren't the greatest of places to argue fund placement.  Especially when such a location impairs your judgement.    50 cents is 50 cents.  It's a bar.  For all you [and they] know you could have just as easily dropped that on the floor or drunkenly chose a song on the juke.  I say let her have it.

in most bars and restaurants it is the income, servers tend
to make half of minimum wage plus the tips, when I was
tending bar I worked in one where I made $2.13/hr +tips and
I've worked in several where I only earned tips, tipping is
important for more reasons than just extraordinary service

I'd pay you for your time working on  my computer, you're
welcome to swing around to the bar and spend the money there
but I cant in good conscience give away something that isnt
mine to give, most bars allow a few shift drinks to be
dispensed, I'd have no problem allowing someone those because
it's a part of what's written into the P&L for spillage and
the like

to me it's no different that boosting my boss' radio
