So, last Sunday, i came upon some money, and wanted to blow it on something extraneous. I just recently found out that most bars will let me drink without a second glance due to my receding hairline. (just turned 18)
So's i decided to go out to a bar with a few of my friends. Well, one thing led to another, and by the end of the night, i had spent $80 on drinks!
I tipped the bartender the last of it, and realized that i didn't even have shit left to buy a happy-meal with.
From now on, i'm drinking at home

I started drinking underage at bars, I had the same receeding hairline by 17-18 yrs. old. The most worthless people are usually found at the bars and it's bloody expensive

I was going to make a thread about that a while ago... I started losing my hair at 17... more than a decade later and all I've got left is a horshoe from ear to ear. Never got carded wehn I was underage, but chicks don't dig a shiny head

thought about shaving it, but I've got such a nice beard.... full, colorful... brown hair on my head/eyebrows and a red/blonde beard... The contrast is nice, while it lasts

oh yeah, I bought pot at Mardi Gras... a guy grabbed handfuls out of a bag (over an ounce) and set them on the toilet tank, then walked away. I was all sorts of fucked up and had to figure out what to do with it. A bunch of TP, then into my bulging pocket for the rest of the night

the washroom coke was just random bar in my city... not quite as akward
even more akward is taking a line right off the tables at the bar, that are all covered with bar table nastiness

I don't like that most of those drunk mofo's at the bar are about to drive home drunk. Why do bars even have parking lots? I mean how many DD's do you see at a bar. Very few, which means most everyone else is about to endanger lives. It's crazy.

I'm not a big drinker, I just like to watch people when I'm way more fucked than they are. Is it a DD if the driver has been coked out and stoned all night but hadn't had a drop of booze?

still not "safe" though... I may not blow the breathalyzer, but walking the line or something wouldn't be cool. Better safe than sorry. I'm glad I live within walking distance of more bars than I can count

Maybe they should put up cots in the pool room for folks to sleep overnight. Like a slumber party!

i work in a pub serving hookas and i'll tell you this... ALL our regulars are missing something and drinking at home won't help'em
on the other hand i certenly agree that drinking at a bar is simply a waste of money...

There are two key things here...
One is the right bar. There are the club bars, which usually suck because it's impossible to get a drink because it's wall to wall with people. Then there are the run-down bars, ala Moe's Tavern, where drunk losers hang out to escape reality. Then there are the friendly bars which act as a hang out for laid back people. It's finding the last type which I think is key. It all comes down to the bartenders.
The second part is drinking the value shopper's way, if you're looking to get drunk rather than just chill. Ordering a mixed drink might cost upwards of $10, and it's usually loaded with ice. No, the smart thing to do is head straight for the hard liquor. Get straight liquor on ice, like, say, Jack Daniels on ice. You can often get something which has about 2 shots of liquor for $4 at a decent bar. Just stay away from well liquor.
It also helps to get to know the bartenders. At the bar I go to, I happened to get to know the owners, as well as the bartenders (two of bartenders are the owners). They hook my friends & I up when we go, and of course, we leave a nice tip.
I hate certain types of bars, especially the ones filled with drunk idiots trying to prove something. Finding the right spot is far different than the type of bar where you can't talk to your friends because a crappy DJ thinks the whole bar wants to hear treble through his Sounddesign speakers.

Lucky balding whores. I still get carded at R-rated movies and I'm 19. I can't imagine what would happen if I entered a bar or tried to buy alcohol at the liquor store.

Gettin drunk before going to bars is key. Getting really stoned before, during, and maybe after hitting up a bar is cool too. In Canada it's just too fucking expensive to get shitfaced only at a bar, you need to drink before or just chill with an overpriced mix.

I'll admit I am spoiled. I go to my local bar (walk there in less then 5 minutes) almost every Friday night. I know everyone there. We hang out, play pool and darts, and just generally have a good time. The bartenders all know me by name and pour my flavor without even asking. I rarely get charged for my drinks but I give good tips to the bartenders. They always give us the key to the pool table so we don't have to pump quarters into it. Last Friday night I went in with $30 at 5:30PM and left the bar with a nice buzz, an extra pack of cigs, and $5 in my pocket at 1:30 AM.
The reason this works so well for me is because this is Las Vegas. You see, the bars here make a shitload more money from the gambling then they do from the drink sales. And every bar in Las Vegas has video gaming machines lined up on the bar. So as long as you are gambling then you drink for free. And since pretty much everyone else there that I hang out with gambles the bartenders don't usually bother charging us for drinks. They don't seem to care that I never gamble a nickel as long as everyone else I am hanging out with is pumping money into the machines. The result, I drink for free. I usually kick down a $20 to the bartender at the end of the night and they are always happy to see me again the next Friday!

dance clubs are better, but yes they are pricy..but I cant meet women on any of the paid sites on the internet, so I think I will hit a dance club every once in a while, to maybe get a phone number... it is hard to meet women in this state if you party..especially if you are over 30
