so many pictures to share  guys here we go i was waiting for a new page to load some people can`t open  the last page so fast , let try this new one.

as last year i visit the nevado de colima, as last time with alan the mushrooms we observe last year where there and few others,
helvella crispa

lyophyllum sp.

inocybe sp.

daldinia sp

dalia are native of mexico and in every forest there is a diferent type.

helvella lacunosa

not sure

maybe bovista sp

coltricia sp

many specie here are share with the west part of usa  and some other forest have more species from the easth side of usa.
here in a pholliota sp maybe squamosa not sure.

and of course the inocybe calamistrata, they smell like fish ,

helvella lacunosa and inocybe calamistrata.

dye... this is the only place  you can find amanita muscaria all the other low woods are gonne ...

helvella lacunosa and Inocybe geophila v. lilacina

the amanita rubescens here are diferent that from other forest but edible for sure.

not sure maybe stropharia sp.

yes they do , look like it i wonder why they have more yellow  color in the base of the stems , in the area  they grow there are abies specie of tree and some cupresus sp , that where introduce a few alnus sp. but mostly abies, in other  forest we dont have abies , is a rare tree here only in the big elevation of central mexico  they grow abundant, also the seasom is way off for the other areas , is interesting , are they really the same flavivolvata  from low land?.. maybe not. but in this forest since are the most higher part of jalisco state, this also happend with all the species around there  the most  be a diferent variation from the low land forest, since all the equal representation of species here are huge , and diferent, for example the helvella, the inocybe in low land those are real small and here they are real big and a bit diferent, i will use my  microscope to see if there is any microcopic diferences too, wait, a bit. now that iam more  aware of the diferences of the amanita muscaria variations even in my state i can come  with 4 diferent types, the flavivolvata, the yellow form, some that look more like the pinkish ones  how are those call, and the ones from high land  that also have a diferent season and some withe forms . only in jalisco state not real study , since we dont have amanita experts here,  but maybe now i can undestand more  how in every place there is a special variety or adaptation to muscaria.

What kind of trees do the morels in your area grow with?

Around here I mostly find them under Abies.

There are several papers on the taxonomy of Amanita muscaria that are in the works, some of the research is indicating that Amanita muscaria is many related species that are specific to local areas.  Its  likely that they will name the North American version of Amanita muscaria var. flavivolvata to Amanita amerimuscaria (Tulloss & J. Geml.)

This last batch of pictures is great, I really like seeing the I. calamistrata again.  Probably toxic though.

Thats great that you have a scope now.  You can collect a bunch of samples and label, photograph and dry them so you have some mycology work to do over the dry season.  Even boring stuff like Entoloma and Inocybe is really cool to look at under the scope.  You could discover many new species just by collecting samples of "common" mushrooms and measuring the spores.

yes here too in fact the morel around here are the same species from your area according to DNA studies , and they love mixed forest of pine and abies  . the season for morel end in December or January sometimes, iam happy to know that .

good to know i guess  in the mean time i can assure that in my area in happening that.

si those stropharia where huge i conserve the specimen and make spore print will give the micoscropic detaild later. the vegetation there is mostly pinus hartewegii and abies religiosa in high areas above 4000 meters only small junuperus sp. grow and small plant (alpine plants) and grass of festuca grow ..... and then above that only the wind and the sand and rocks dominate, the view up there is incredible in a clear sky you can see the sea , and most of the closest sierras as sierra del tigre sierra de tapalpa, sierra del halo y sierra de la media luna......

thank you kaal-kopje . i hope  i can send to you with my pìctures the incredible of Mexico, i hope you get a fantastic season  this year .....
helvellas taste good  one of my favorite this time of the year ...

the result ...

the texture of helvella is amazing it took me 2 years do to really apreciate then , for me the gastronomy of mushrooms is some sort of education , i have to educate my brain and stomach for this porpouse. i used to fell weird about the texture of helvella , not anymore that sort elastic and crazy texture is very enjoyable  in every bite now.

pleurotus ostreatus  in salsa verde . HMMMMMMMM. SO GOOD  ALAN YOU HAVE TO TRY THIS NEXT TIME YOU ARE IN SENGUIO ......

LET ME TELL YOU SORRY. CAP`s  ON , gonphus flocosus is a real good edible , i found this big specimen  in abies forest.

gonphus  with salsa de tomate and epazote ....the meal!..

one of the most crazy agaricus i have eat , this specie do not grow in jalisco , but in the state of michoacan , is new to me , the taste was so good close to the silvaticus complex  in taste , but also something is different in this ones, i really think this mushooms should be grow . i believe something medicinal is in those  mushroms .....

and then some morchella ...

i add a few yogourt and olive fruits

this year i have no  sicknees , rare , i guess is due to my  diet being so full of mushrooms , iam drinking a tea of fomitopsis pinicola,
