ID request

Stem:
a whole 3.5 gram mushroom fits in the palm of my hand

Cap:
yellowish to off white with a few brown spots



Bruising:
whole thing is pretty much the off whiteish to light yellow no bruising.

That is an Amanita of some kind. Need a good description or picture of the base of the stem to put a species name to it.

the base of the stems are circular and white...are amanitas the type that should be smoked not eaten?





the flash of the camera tints the color the base of the stem is very white and circular

No, your thinking of Amanita muscaria(a specific species), which you may or may not have.  Just the other day weiliiii was asking if they could be smoked and i believe he received mixed messages.  In the end (if i remember correctly) he tried smoking a small amount and got a "buzz"(?).



P.S.-none of those pictures can provide a positive id, try taking a few more with your macro mode if you have one.  Look at the top of the mushroom hunting forum for more good info on taking pictures

This is not a good enough description. Amanitas is a genus, within the genus of Amanita are a lot of species of mushrooms. Some of them are deadly poisonous. Your description and pictures decribe more than one kind of mushroom.

Some people eat Amanita muscaria, I've heard some people also smoke it.

my camera doesnt have a macro function its just a webcam but the stem is white and smooth with some brown bruising, the base of one of the stems is hollow but the other base is a little beigeish on the edge and white in the middle  the gills are pretty much white.  The cap looks like a turtles shell and its pattern goes from more circular pattern in the center to smoother towards the edges

Trie to go to the same spot find more (fully grown) and pick all of the stem under the ground and take a side shot of the base not the bottom of the shroom;)
