3 year old jourdaniana

This my largest seed grown, own root seedling. I have 2 that look identical, but only took a pic of the one. It would be a bit bigger if it hadn't, had such a rough start, It was sun burned for 2 years of it's life. At the time, I didn't know any better.
The rest of my seedlings, this age were used for grafts.
I only had 2 jourda so decided not to graft them.

Nice! Jourdaniana is a must for the loph collector. Don't they pup at this size? I have one with 5 pups and it is about 1cm across. The other one I have is much larger and only has 2 tiny pups. Maybe its just an oddball.

ethnoguy, I'm not sure when they pup. I do hope mine pup soon. I can't find much info on them.
Are their flowers a deeper pink than other loph's ?

they pup later in life than caespitosa, once they get to about 3 or 4cm they start to offset.

usually its the flower colour (like you say) and the small spines that distinguish these from the rest :smile:

Yeah kada, they are pretty easy to distinguish. The spines make it obvious as well as the color. I will get a cam again soon. I'll be sure and post a pic of the one I got and the one thats coming soon.

certainly one of the easiest lophophora "species" to determine due to the purple flower colour and purple filaments, as well as the spination and clumping habit :yesnod:
