And I also wouldn't mind knowing how long it approximately takes for cubes to start growing after a nice rain.

Generally a good time table is 12-36 hours after the rain has stopped. Generally you want a good 24 hrs of moderatly high temps 80-90's and really high humidity 90+ for at least half of the day. I dunno what the temps are like up in GA right now. But i get the impression its a little too chilly for the cubensis.

It depends on your lows for the night.  Cubensis are extremely hardy growers and can withstand alot. Down here near the Mississippi delta i know we have cubensis fruiting untill the first hard freeze and if i remember correctly someone on the forums found a cube in freezing weather....i want to say implee but im not sure

Nothing more that a combination of yours and somebody's.  Many are of the opinion, I am one, that winter temperatures prohibit the spread of cubensis into northern latitudes.  The fruiting temperatures extend up to Canada.  It is the spores that cannot survive cold weather.

Houston only has a few days of freezing weather each year, but ive found some colder non freezing weather cubes before.

Yessup found cubes right around christmas a couple times i think

And to the op, go 1-7 days after good rain and ok temperatures, like i said people in texas have found them all year round just in fewer numbers, im not sure about georgia though sorry

I've found a lonely cube growing around Christmas time, and a few more around Thanksgiving. The colder weather seems to slow down growth, and other than lowered humidity due to a cold front, there shouldn't be a problem to finding a few wintertime cubes.
