Pink is a contam. I'll look up which one in TMC if you want. It may give some insight as to where it came from. A soon as you get mycelium growth not directly beside the pink, do a transfer of the mycelium to fresh agar. Peroxide agar would work well. Placebo did a good write up on peroxide agar about a month ago in the old cultivation forum, do a search for it. It sucks, but is the way of life of an agar cultivar.

I just looked at my profile and realized I had a website at one point in time on geocities, it's not there anymore and I have no idea what I had on it. Anybody remember my website from several years aga? PM if so please.

I have had this problem befour and it is a major pain in the ass. The next time you make up some agar/dishes, wait a few days befour you transfer your spores to it. At least you won't waste spores. good luck.

Is the contaminant mycelia fast growing and aerial, or slow growing and appressed?
If the first, your looking at a Neurospora, or a Trichothecium for the second. Choose one, and I'll give more specifics.
I love TMC!
I hate contams

Also, where did the contam first show up, near the point of innoculation, spread evenly across the plate, or near the peripherry?

Exactly BIO, I too have seen both types of "pink mold". The Neurospora seems to have been contaminating a print I had, as the contaminant germation always grew wherever the spores were. The Trichothecium seems to have been due to either sterilization, or improper sterile technique, as it was in various places in the plates. Luckily I only had these in 1 batch a piece.

I now know this "I probly shouldn't have used spore WATER"

The Agar does seem to be prone to the red jelly mould, I reckon that it is the most poisonous thing that I have seen yet and never got much colonisation past its appearance so that one is probably a bin job.

Same here, Moe. I'm clueless...

Well, I just saw a plantasia agar jar overcome this shit! I set the jar in the throw out pile, and just didn't get to it. 2 weeks later, the whole plate (including the invading contam) was covered in plantasia mycelia! Still throwing it out, but tells you something.....what I'm not sure, maybe just an unrelated storry, but that's something
