Alcohol Blackouts...

Do people really blackout from alcohol? How would you define it? I've been drunk to the point of likely alcohol poisoning, with tons of vomiting, once, and I've been pretty damned drunk many a time, but never forgotten one second of it. And I've never passed out, only fallen asleep early. I've been drunk to where I couldn't see! But never have I ever drank so much that I wasn't in control of my actions, or forgot a moment of it. I would assume one would just have to drink more for these effects, but I've been to the point where I should have been dead (I was 15, there was >1/5th of whiskey on an empty stomach involved) and still retained my memory and consciousness.

Or you just don't blackout for some reason.

You drink a lot of booze, a chunk of the night is not remembered (usually the chunk that precedes you passing out or "falling asleep early"), and then you wake up the next day presumably feeling like shit.

It's a really weird concept the first one or two times. I mean, if you don't remember it, did it really happen? Yes, it really happened. You get used to it, and in the end it means you had a successful night.

Sometime, I don't remember not remembering. If that makes sense.

Also, its usually Tequila that can make me blackout vs. Vodka, that has never made me black out even though I have drank copious amounts

I drank so much vodka once, that I went to go see Superman in the movie theater and I didn't remember a SINGLE minute of it.

I went to see it again about a week later and it as like watching it for the first time.

The music seemed a bit familiar in spots....

Drink a lot... do stupid shit that is far out of character... wake up feeling like shit in the morning... don't remember anything.

Sounds like Freshmen year of college...

I've pissed on my roommate sleeping in his bed thinking it was a toilet.
I've destroyed my friends room incurring over 100$ in damages.
I've harpooned a pool stick at a lady at a bar.
I've destroyed countless amounts of street signs and on road shrubbery.
The list goes on and on. And that's why I have grown up and now drink responsibly.

Ive blackout only twice and ive done my fair bit of drinkin... first was my 21st.... duh... second i was at a party and a friend had imported real absenth... three shots... two with flaming sugar cubes and one with water disolving the cube(friend said it was toditional) i siped a beer after thoughs... less than 30min later i remember nothing tell i was pulled over trying to speak to a cop... DUI has sence stopped all drinking for me.

Makes perfect fuckin' sense to anyone who has actually blacked out. That's what makes it so weird.

Cosmo: Luckily I've never done anything drastically stupid, even while blacked out. It doesn't seem logical, but even when I don't have any control over myself I seem to self-regulate.

well not just a beer or two, but if i get past a buzz its pretty much inevitable for me. it sucks. i quit drinking for a while a couple times because of it

I do it way too often...I have blacked out from just alcohol for 12 hours. Ahhh the intervention song just played in my head...Maybe I have a problem.

Honestly, blackouts didn't start showing up until I had been drinking for a year or two. In highschool I was fine, I'd drink a lot be hungover as fuck the next morning but I'd remember everything. After about 2 years in college I finally discovered this "black out" phenomenon.

I'm guessing it's where I used to just go to sleep and I end up staying up anyway. Last Thursday night was one my first partial blackouts in a long time. But the parts of it that I do remember were :awesome:

maybe drink some more vodka. I had a blackout when i was 14, was in my best friends girlfriend house. I ended up kissing her, ruining her bedroom, went outside to stand on the gardentable and pissed on it while her parents watched me. I never came back there!

Yeah this i can agree with, i used to drink all the time through out high school, now im 22 and i black out almost every time i go to the bar, or even drink heavily at home. its insane.

When I was 15 my friends parents thought it would be a good idea to have a supervised drinking session, kinda like the get them drunk have them puke and hope they dont like alcohol thing.  Well for some odd reason they got a half gallon or a gallon of Jack Daniels i cant really remember, and i dont know how i did it but i drank a third of that bitch between three people, i went outside passed out on thier sidewalk, the mom woke me up and carried me inside and put me on the bed, and they were all around me talking but i couldnt move or talk, it was the wierdest thing ever, i though just fine but i could not get my brain to make any kind of action.  Then the stepdad started rubbing my leg and I had a skirt on and he was saying how I could sleep in there with them, i fuckin panicked but i still couldnt talk i was just praying someone wouldnt like that idea, thank god my friend spoke up and was like umm no ill carry her to my room and take care of her.  I still drink I mean that was before I knew how much I could handle so thier plan didnt work but i'll never buy more than a fifth.

I had a blackout moment last friday. Drinking on a half gallon of some vodka.

Didn't do anything real stupid, thank God. Just typical drunken antics.

First blackout I have had in YEARS too.
