Re: PNW Cyan season right around the corner! [Re: psilocyboid]

Haven't checked this thread in a few days but damn nice patch psilocyboid!!

Went out to a few spots today and only spotted some pins, even at mine and @cro's patch that fruits early every year.  I'm not worried, it just started raining like 4 days ago and its been in the 60s.  Getting started late but I think it will be good.  The edibles have been later than normal too up in the mountains.

Keep up the rain dances and hope for some cooler temps as well!

Well FUH! I'm in the Portland area and I searched the cascade station at the airport today, a few parks in Wilsonville, and a few parks in downtown Portland. I found nothing. Honestly though, most of the woodchips I've seen here are the brownish to slightly orangish bark dust type. I skip those and only really scour the alder chip patches, but they aren't as plentiful as up in Seattle.

I'm dying to find a patch in P-town. I ran into a guy who works at a book store who hunts edibles. I think I might have to approach him sometime and see how cool he is with hunting actives... Who knows, he could be one of you.

I live in Southern Oregon (Medford Area) and I was just wondering if any one around here was having any luck. Today was my first day of searching, just went to a local park to no avail.

I was also wondering if any one had any suggestions where to look.. within the forum rules of course

Pins:

These are scattered throughout an area approximately 10ft x 10ft.  In a day or two this patch is going to be redonkadonk.

I've noticed that when I go out hunting these days there are little armies of squirrels running and digging around for their acorns and such.  We're the only one's with our heads in the dirt zigzagging around like maniacs. :crazy2:

Haha, funny you mentioned squirrels boulderboomer. I went to a park today to check on some potential patches and two squirrels were goin' crazy in the trees just over my head. They actually knocked a branch or two down that landed near me.

I found a few patches of non-actives growing out of some wood chips, and a bunch of little white mushrooms growing out of a pine cone. That's about it though. I don't think it's gotten cold enough in Oregon for cyans to fruit in great enough numbers to find. Someone from Portland prove me wrong.

I found these puffballs a few days ago.

i'm only an hour or so north of Seattle & I have yet to see any Cyans from this weekends rain, nor any real new mushie growth. I've been checking many spots over the past couple of weeks. Has anyone been finding actives in the Whatcom county area? I'm very eager to gobble down some freshies, but damn, maybe I just haven't found the right patch, yet. There are plenty of, what seems to be, alder/cedar chip patches, but only occasionally is some non-active mushie growing there. It's raining right now, so hopefully this next rainfall, plus the sun will bring up some magic 8)

It is really early in the season, but dont give up yet.
Also your chances of finding them in the woods are slim to nothing, so widen your search range.
