does this sound like a scam?
    #8973170 -

i got a call from a 203 number (new york) saying i had entered a sweepstakes when i downloaded a video game to my phone. Somebody actually stole my phone and downloaded that game. They said it was called the fuel and flicks promotion between june 26 and sept 2. Lady talking was calling from Concept studios and said the only requirment was that nobody i knew worked for iplay. The prize was 1500 in gas cash. she asked me which gas station i use and i told her valero. She took down my address. has anyone heard of this before?

i cant find info on this anywhere

just make sure not to give them any access to any money via debit/credit card numbers, account numbers, social security number, etc.

if all she got was your address then you might have won something.  but if she calls back wanting more info, i'd be very cautious.

Sounds like that someone who took your phone might have done something illegal, and they are looking for that person to walk in to claim the prize money or give their address to arrest you.

I have seen that tactic used by bounty hunters and local sheriffs.

Sounds like someone got your phone and now wants your address too 'cause (s)he found out something interesting and wants to come pay your place a visit. I'd be wary for uninvited guests and any possible scams.

Ok OK  Looks Good right???  after recieving my letter of affrimindation,  its looking more and more suspisous.  Hear me out.  The website is tcspromo.com.  They want me to sign a paper, give my dob, social security number and a copy of my license,  get it notericed and mail it in.  it says i've won a years worth of gas, but why do they need all that info?? the return address is the Concept Studio, 165 kings highway n, westport CT  with a call back number 203 337 7444.  Go ahead and call this number.  It seems like a directory, but option 4 dosn't work.  furthermore, when i went to the bank to get it notericed, they said it was strange that the two noterity pages weren't numbered and it was too unusual that it was shipped fed ex.

extra info they sent me..

This is all very strange is seemly some sorta scam??  it would be a damn shame if i cant collect my prize on account of worrying about identity theft.  This is defintily unusual.

If it was a scam, I wouldn't think they would want you to have it notarized?  It would just be more shit for the scamee to go through before sending the information back.

The situation does sound VERY funky to me though.

They are trying to steal your identity. Do not respond to them.

The minute they asked for your SSN it was guaranteed to be100 percent scam.

Before that point it was only 99.9 percent sure that it was a scam.

The mystery deepens.  One of my friends has my old model of phone which the game was downloaded on, that was stolen.  He was showing me how i-play was the video game manufacturer, who was supposedly the sponsor of the give away. Its just so hard to distifer wether this is true or not. The bottom of the noterity page says
"i understand that i am soley responible for any and all Federal, state and local taxes that may be due on the prize, and that i will recieve a 1099 Tax form reflecting the value of the prize as indicated."
which seems so consistent of a thing of this nature. And the concept studio website seems to real. I feel i could be missing out on my change for free travel for a while or missing out on my chance to do all that.  It just seems so legit, yet at the same time so weird. It is a mystery that will linger in my thoughts for whiles to come.

Dude if I were you I'd fuck with them. Just give them a bunch of bullshit information. Make up a fake name/DOB, tell them your address is a police station, and send them a crayon drawing of an ID. That'll teach em!

I like to do those online surveys where in the fine print it says you agree to $15/month charges to your phone bill, and I put down the local GOP headquarters phone and address :awesome:
