Yea, Im a strong supporter of nationally standardized tests at all levels of education, from early elementary to graduate school.

yeah me too, but I dont think schools should be allowed to hype them up as much as they do! I was more stressed out because if our schools test levels were down they could shut the school down or some shit, than I was because it was a test!

Thats why choice is so important and school vouchers are the best way to improve education.  That way schools that perform badly do get shut down because the customers/students choose to go to better schools (or learn at home).

My school was never even close to being shut down but at the same time its like when/if you work for a corprate company that's sales are down... most of them use negative re-enforcement to get you to improve. Thats why as a kid I got stressed! They made it seem like the end of the world! Plus there was a neighboring town that's kids had to apply out to other towns school because at the time they didn't have a highschool... if they didn't get in to a school (and there were at least 4 every year that didn't) you'd have to homeschool or be shit out of luck!

My god, that's still an awful article.  The text I listed above is the law as it stand now.  The article you both reference dates back to a ruling made in March of this year.  USE REAL NEWS SOURCES

That is kind of crappy. I was only home school one year, when I was in the 7th grade. I learned more in that one year then I have in like...5 years of normal schooling.

Home school > normal school

I was homeschooled from age 6 to age 17, excepting two years that I was enrolled at a private school. I had to take CAT tests and scored in the 99th percentile on every single subject. Except math, that is.:lol:

The moral of this story? I'm probably smarter that you! HAHAHAhahaha HEEHEE hee hee heh. ehhehe. hee. Wait, thats not the moral.

The moral is that even though I can't vouch for other people's children or teaching methods, homeschooling is, and should be, a viable option that parents should have.

Only if your parents/teacher know what they are teaching or even care.... One of my beat friend's mom didn't want her to be in public school so she homeschooled her and then just let her do stuff whenever she wanted... It took her 6 years to get a GED!

First, I wasn't talking to you.  Second, the SF chronicle is a REAL NEWS SOURCE.  Third, it references an August ruling, superseding the March ruling.  LEARN TO READ.

california has the highest teaching standards
i no this b/c im getting my teachers credential right now
and i can use it in all 50 states, a california credential is the only one that works like that

Yeah, that what I was thinking. In home school, you still have to do standarized testing 1-2 times a year. You don't do it at home either, you have to go to some kind of campus and be given the test.

Our CAT tests came in the mail...my sibling and I always looked forward to CAT test week because it was so easy we would be done with school by 10am.
