I couldn't really make out the details in your photo,but if anything more than the most basic primordia is growing,don't use it for innoculation-there is a good chance it will just rot.

It's a suspension media. I think that's really what you're asking, no? (i.e. why not just grow out stuff on a nutrient medium?).
