My Reassesment of In Rainbows

Far better than what I first thought. Right now it's my favorite Radiohead album.

You know when it first came out I downloaded it from their website and listened to it twice.  My reaction was, "Wow, I'm glad I didn't pay for that!"

Recently, though (since that live show everybody was watching), I've been liking it more and more.  Not my favorite, but good.

I've got it, and only have OK computer to compare it to. I thought it was pretty good.

What about the album do you folks find disagreeable?

I'm torn between Kid A and OK Computer for my favorite.  Probably leaning more towards Kid A.

That's typically my feeling.

Kimbo: I never said it was their best, I said it's my favorite right now. Pablo Honey is definitely their worst though. I'd say In Rainbows is just as good in my book as anything else. It's really fucking good.

I, unfortunately, agree completely.  I think Kid A and Amnesiac are my two favorite albums, with OK Computer in a close second.  Kid A really is the shit.

in rainbows is the first CD of radiohead i listened to throughout!

i had only heard songs here or there in the past, and in rainbows got me back into radiohead.
and while i LOVE kid a, ok computer, and the bends, i think in rainbows is my favorite.
especially the scotch mist video i just posted, i love watching their energy when they play.

I try and rank the albums every now and then. For now:

In Rainbows
Kid A
OK Computer
The Bends
Hail to the Thief

It might stay like that for a while. Maybe In Rainbows will move back down. I think seeing them live a bunch this summer changed how I feel about that album, they played pretty much everything off it.

I had to listen to In Rainbows a little while before I "got it."  I think it's best played in a chill campfire type setting with lots of beer and weed.

The reason I enjoy In Rainbows as much as I do is because after listening to Radiohead for so long, I feel like you can really hear how much they've loosened up on it.  That being said, The Bends, Kid A, Amnesiac...yipes. Hard to top, for me at least.
