Radiohead is on the cover of the latest Rolling Stone and if you're a fan it's a great article...RS.com is hosting an excerpt from the article. If I wasn't lazy I'd type the rest up for you.
The Future According to Radiohead - Rolling Stone Cover Article
I'm having quite the shameless Radiohead air guitar dance party right now without my roommates home. Letting it all out before I go float.

I have a weird amnesia when it comes to Radiohead, I always forget how good they are until I listen to one of their albums.

Radiohead has gotten me through some hard points of my life. I draw a lot of inspiration from them.
Amazing how good music can do that for people. I only hope one day to be able to accomplish the same.

I like Zero 7, but Climbing up the Walls is one of my favorite songs. And believe me I like a lot of songs. I checked those previews, and they're interesting, but they don't hold a candle to the original.

A couple years ago they released some studio sessions from when they were called "On A Friday"
The rolling stone did a little blurb on it and..
I think the highest honor u can get as a rock band is when Rolling Stone says THIS about your band:

Lucky was my favorite tune around the time I saw Radiohead in concert.
I waited the whole show, and they didn't play it. Then they came out for their first encore (of three) and played it! It was nighttime out by this time, and the entire back or the stage was set up with florescent tubes. All the lights were out for the beginning of the song...and they all came on right when the chorus starts.
I thought I was dead and gone to heaven

So the first part of their American tour dates are UP!
They're coming to my area (Virginia - Nissan Pavilian) on May 11th. Tickets are 41-61 bucks and go on sale Saturday at 10am through ticketmaster.
Here's my question.. when u KNOW a ticketmaster event is going to sell out fast.. what's the BEST way to get a ticket? My plan is to get to Macy's at like 8am and camp out, waiting for it to open and RUN to their ticketmaster office.
Anyone ever manage to get tickets for events that have sold out within 30 minutes before? Whats the best way? Phone/ticketmaster site/or ticketmaster location?

I've done it online. I click 'refresh' until it says "On sale now" then I run through the process as quickly as possible.
Do a few dry runs on the website so you know what you have to click and enter.
One tip: don't choose "Best seats available" when it asks you which ones. Know the venue layout and its sections and enter the actual section you want. "Best seats available" could put you in not-so-great seats while other more preferable seats remain unselected.
If the section is sold out, try again with your second choice.
It's quite intense when you know tickets are going fast. Heart pounding, sweat beading.
Also, find out if there are any pre-sales for fan clubs or whatever and make sure you join whatever you have to.

Yea I'm IN LINE also for the second time. I just tried 4 tickets at a specific level which werent available so now i'm at the BACK of the que again. I've got two browser windows open.. 2 and 4 each at best available.
This is bullshit. I got bumped to the BACK of the queue just because the section I wanted asn't available.
Whoever said NOT to select BEST AVAILABLE was WRONG.... If you select a section that's sold out, you get bumped to the back of 50,000 ppl trying to get tickets even thought I was
.. ok.. just made it through
10 minutes went back and 20000 seats just sold out.. BULLSHIT! I'm stucka t the TOP of the lawn
2 minutes left in my wait
If these things sell out I'm going to find all the scalpers on ebay and shoot them in a face with a shotgun.

fuck.. 120 for the tickets, then another $65 for stupid "charges" like the facility charge and the convenience charge. that's so fucking underhanded. they should really just include those charges into the ticket prices.
i can't believe i just paid that much. and lawn seats no less!

I don't know about you guys, but two summers ago I was pissed when I tried to get a couple 30 dollar Radiohead tickets at the Hollywood bowl only to find out that the show sold out in 2 minutes. I'm pretty sure a large chunk of those buyers were scalpers because so many companies whic called themselves "Ticket Merchants/Middlemen/etc" (fancy official-looking way of saying asshole scalper with no soul) were selling them on ebay with an extra 100 dollars tacked on to the price.
I found a pretty satisfying and effective way to combat the scalpers last summer. I still paid my 220 bucks but I got even with a lotta scalpers.
On Ebay, set up about 10 fake accounts.. or as many as you can. If you see ticket bids ending a day or two before the concert. BID on them. Set your max bid as something unGODLY so you know you won't lose. Then a day or two before the concert when the bidding ends.... just keep the seller hanging. Don't respond when he starts beggings for payment.
Then finally the day before or of the concert... send him a big ol "FUCK YOU" in his Ebay Message box. By that time... he's in total desperation to sell the tickets he shafted everyone else on. Odds are he'll wait a day or so for you and he'll miss plenty of good offers on the tickets. If he tries to offer them to the next highest bidders... odds are they already got tickets somewhere else. The stupid ass scalpers might actually have to get off their lazy asses and go to the venues to sell them by hand.
When I did this, I got tons of messages on ebay from the sellers cursing me out.
I loved every second of it.
Stick it to the scalpers. If we can get thousands of people doing this... imagine all the money the scalpers loose.
This week.. I'm going to set up dozens of ebay accounts and hand them out to you guys.. anyone with me?

Only the first leg of the tour is on sale...they will return in summer and play dates in Chicago and other cities..
I'm also hearing a rumor that at All Points West Festival here in the Tri-State Area, the organizers are trying to get Radiohead to play both Friday AND Saturday nights...guess that means I'll have to double my dose.

Depending on my money situation this time around and if I can get tix I am gonna try and see them in NYC, Boston, and Philly. You should try and come up for the APW festival...Radiohead, Wilco, Alberta Cross, and many more...August 8-10...you can crash on my couch. It's gonna be a no-camping festival. Every day we go to Battery Park, southern tip of Manhattan, and get a ferry ride over to Liberty State Park. C'moooooon

Yeah I love In Rainbows...I've been on a huge Radiohead kick for the last month or so listening to everything..I fell back in love with OK Computer, and the past few days I've been remembering what a great record Amnesiac is. I think if I had a gun to my head and had to choose a favorite though, I'd say The Bends. That album just kills me start to finish.
But I love in Rainbows..more all the time. .I could talk about Radiohead for hours (my roommate Ryan always gets me going on it..) and In Rainbows to me just seems like this return for them...I dunno, they seem like a BAND again on it. You can feel that they are more excited to be making music now than they have been the last couple of albums. All the shit that goes down in Meeting People Is Easy (have you seen that movie?) really fucked with Thom's head, and all of their heads I think...and I think in Rainbows is the first album where they're really over that hump.
You know Bodysnatchers was recorded in a live take (some overdubs were done I would assume in the studio) with the whole band playing it, in an old Victorian house? I can't listen to it the same now, knowing that. Crazy that that is a live take recording.

I had heard that about Bodysnatchers. It took a few listens before I could warm up to that song.. the ending really kicks ass though.
That album is a bit less "warm" to me than the others. Of all their work, Kid A stands out to me as the most epic. It was the first of their music I ever heard - I bought it the same day that it came out, got one of the first 1000 copies sold in the USA. I was very very blown away by it and have been enamored with it ever since.
I think Videotape is one of the best songs ever written by them, but I feel like the album version was overthought and nowhere near as good as it had the potential to be. It really bothers me how "All You Need" just ends so abruptly too.
It came out when I was living in Hawaii, so I ordered it online that night and dosed on mushrooms with my good friend who is also a fan. We listened to it as we were peaking, and it will forever remind me of being in Hawaii. We were in my a-frame hut and it was raining on the metal roof pretty hard. I dunno, it was cool but we weren't sure how to feel about it. It's hard to not have certain expectations about their music - I was hoping it was going to be jazzy, like Kid A/Amnesiac/Hail To the Thief.. but it had absolutely no jazz to it at all.
I have Meeting People Is Easy on VHS. Thom's experiences from that situation really fueled his writing of Kid A/Amnesiac and it really shows.

i could strangle somebody right now. my friend went to the ticketmaster retail location to get tickets right as they went on sale so we could get some good seats, but the incompetent morons working there didn't know how to work the system and it took them 20 fucking minutes to figure it out. so we missed out on good seats and these complete and total failures ended up selling my friend 4 $20 parking passes thinking they were tickets. he left in disgust, and went to another ticketmaster place where they aren't brain dead and got some lawn tickets. we plan to call ticketmaster and get our money back for these parking passes since it's their employee's fault. i'm also going to raise hell and demand they sell us some seats since it's their fault we missed out on them. i'm not sitting on the stupid fucking lawn during radiohead.
every single seat at two shows i'm going to was sold out in 15 minutes on ticketmaster online. FUCK YOU ticketmaster!

Ouch.. that sucks dude.
I didn't even realize the bastards had retail outlets. I was lucky to get something other than lawn tickets, even though I'm off to the left of the center of the stage.. I'm about halfway down, so I'm cool with that. I always take binoculars and I'll take my camera to get some good zoom photos.
Where are you going to try to see them?

Yea ticketmaster sucks...
BUT
I blame the scalpers even more though. They're the ones buying up HALF the tickets just to resell them for 2-3-4 times the price. Just look at how masny are on ebay ALREADY.
I got stuck with lawn tix just because I got bumped to the back of the online queue.. fuckin stupid ass system
But hey... its better to be in the lawn than not to be there at all. Consider yourself lucky. They're all gonna be sold out probably any minute

Meh the lawn ain't that bad. LIke I said.. it's easy to smoke there and yo get to toss around the ol' fribee and shit.
Plus.. it's really no worse than standing 50 yards back at a festival like Coachella. At least with lawn tickets there's a slope so you get to sit down.
Next time around radiohead should research which states have the toughest scalping laws and only go there.

Yea me too. I'll be at the virginia show in the lawn too
But like I said... Follow my lead with the scalper/ebay fuckover method. I tried it last time around and dude... you no idea how AWESOME it felt when I had a bunch of ppl selling 200 dollar radiotickets asking me for the payment and then emailing me, cursing me and threatening me when i told them to fuck off.
It was such a great feeling to get under their skin.

I was at that one too.... I don't know how but I somehow managed to get TWO GREAT TICKETS in the 200 level section for 30 bucks each off of ebay. SOme couple couldnt find a babysitter last minute in DC and sold em really cheap. The price listed on the ticket for the awesome seats was like 1 bucks so they must have gotten em for free.

I wish I could afford to go to Bristow too. Fuck.. I doubt I could get off from work for both shows. If I can, though, and can afford it.. I might try to go. It will be a very unlikely scenario, but one show's good enough for me.
I've seen a lot of shows at Charlotte, it's not bad. The lawn isn't that far back.

Just snagged a lawn ticket for Atlanta. The lawn is where it's at.

the lawn is where it's at if it's a show like allman bros, phish, the dead etc etc. i definitely prefer the lawn for shows like that, but for rock shows i really prefer being close up. radiohead is my favorite band and i really wanted to be close to the stage so i could have a more intimate experience at the show. alas, it just wasn't in the cards.
i'm sure the show is going to be amazing regardless though. i'm very excited to be going.
it would be fun if some of us poor lawn bound souls could get together at the show. i'll be at the charlotte show with a nice group of friends, and at the virginia show with a very good friend of mine, i say the more the merrier though! that's one good thing about the lawn anyways. you can sit with whomever you want that also has a lawn ticket.
