Golden teachers - short?

This is my first flush of golden teacher using a kit (kit is way too small for my liking but is easy to manage :P). I am just curious, the conditions seem to be very good, temperature at a constant 24-25 degrees and 75-80% RH, all seems well...they just look short man, way short.
Whats the craic? Are they short for any reason, or just short and thats fine?
Input appreciated. Incidentally I harvested this particular flush and according to a close friend they were amazing. Still short like.

How much free air exchange is that getting? You need a higher humidity level with cakes. Go with a tub instead of a little grow kit next time. The growth characteristics are genetic, and have more to do with the particular substrain than the TC strain you started with. ~Pixie~

I haven't grown that strain, but they look short to me - maybe due to not enough moisture?

Temperature is a little bit too hot, and humidity should probably be higher too.
But either way...those do not look like GT. I'd would even question a bit if they're cubensis. But they do look like the South African Transkei strain.

Well the bag they are in gets opened and misted twice a day, I make sure theres enough time for air to circulate so theyre not just sweating their nuts off in a sack 24 hours a day :P
And aye, I've already compiled a bit of a mini-lab for my next attempt, kits are fine but to be honest they lack involvement.
I only ask because I have yet to see a picture of somebodies golden teachers that are short like mine, most seem huge. Makes me feel like I am doing something wrong, perhaps I am.

Well now theres a monkey wrench thrown into the affair. ARE they golden teachers, a brand new question I had never thought to ask. The caps do seem to have a bit more 'wave' to them.

I've had cubies on cakes look like that - usually when I got lazy and didn't mist / keep my humidity up.

i think its better to have a short stem and a fat cap, means you did everything correct, longer stems mean you have poor fae

Thats a good point, they were short but seriously PHAT when picked :P as in it looked like much larger stems pressed into like 2 inches haha. With nice thick parasols :P
Dunno why I'm complaining really, was just curious because I suppose I am comparitively new to this.

I dunno man never seen GT that short, but they are on cake so that could be the sole reason right there. I've worked with only 6 strains but GT continues to get the biggest individual fruits out of all of them, on avg. Check out the sig pic on the right that's just a pint of cased brf if i remember correctly, that big shroom was about 5.8 dry. Your stipes do look thick though so don't worry, sometimes a substrate will put out a few big ones, other times it will put out numerous smaller ones, which is what that cake looks like to me.
btw those look more like caked ecuador than gt.

bought the spores from potseeds if anyone here has used that site, seemed pretty reliable from what ive heard, might get some ecuador spores see what they look like, might have a whole batch of em mixed up :P
It was weird, they looked like teachers for ages then the caps started getting a bit wavy looking. Anyhoo thanks for all the response guys, much appreciated, will keep you updated man.
Peace out.
