fucking gnats please help a newb

okay heres the problem i have 2 casings inside a seedling tray as a FC and my casings have recently popped its first pins but i have found gnats around i have put up another post asking what to do and i had 2 responses saying use diatomaceous earth but i have no clue where to find this or if it will destroy larva or maggots..... i am almost positive the gnats have mated because i have not seen any in the FC for about a week and found one flying around today can somebody anybody please tell me how to stop these fuckers it is my first successfully casing with pins and i have been sooo patient on my quest to grow shrooms please help a newbie out with sum detailed info......... i cna provide pics if needed

Any decent garden center should carry diatomaceous earth...I haven't used it myself, but I know my wife gets it to kill some kind of larva in her flower beds.

Search fungus gnats.  Many procedures for dealing with them have been presented.  Bottom line, they don't cause too much trouble, but are fairly easy to control.  I'll lock your other thread that was moved from the experience forum.  No need for two.

there may be a lite insecticide that would kill them and not harm the casings... maybe dilute some?

I founght and won gnats with a combination of first dry DE sprinked on casings with one of those flour sifters, then rid them with gnatorol sprayed on the casings. winning combination.

DE can be found for use with pools at home depot.

Gnatorol can be ordered online.

It usually takes a solid pinching motion with the thumb. If you have any hosue plants around put some sand on the top of the soil layer to prevent the things from laying eggs in that soil, it could be where they come from. RR told me a wine bottle with a lil bit at the bottom will get them trapped.

It's hard to stop them once they get going. You'll probably have to ride this one out and try some preventative measures for future grows. I, personally, have answered this question a billion times, so as RR said, hit the search engine.

dunk them to kill the larvae.. kill the source then just squash the ones you see.

do this and you will soon have them under control
