lol what the hell is doomsday to you? it doesnt mean everyone is going to die?  the probability of something happening on a catastrophic scale large enough to kill everyone and everything is very slim.  doomsday will not be the end all.

i have guns because i love them. theyre fun to shoot, they make self defense much easier and likely, and if i ever need them for something else, i have them.

if i met someone that didn't have food after doomsday, and i did have some, i would be like "shit, we should share this food, then go find more".


correct me if i'm wrong, but bandits would most likely use firearms correct?

assuming bandits travel alone, wouldn't it be something like this?

bandit: "give me your food, i have a gun"
you: "no, i have a gun also"

and then you both try and kill each other.  you really think you could do this more than a couple times and not be the one shot?  like you're going to be a magic gunfighter?

thats assuming bandits travel in groups of one.

The other option is don't have a gun and just get shot without a chance.  If you are lucky whoever it is will let you live so that you can come to your senses and go get a gun somewhere. IMO

I'd probably have an AK47 or something. But that's just for an extreme emergency, like if someone was threatening my loved ones lives. You're damned straight if someone was threatening my or a loved ones life, I would shoot them in the fucking face.

But if some hungry guy comes up to me, I'm not going to shoot him in the face. I would probably give him some food, and be like shit man, we better band together if we want a better chance of survival. That is assuming, you aren't some asshole that would try and stab me in the back to gain some kind of upper hand, cause if that's the case you can get the fuck out right now.

But yeah, guns aren't going to solve your problems in some type of doomsday scenario. Not unless you have a hundred zombies coming after you, and if we've learned anything it's that guns are not very effective against most zombies.

Best bet IMO in such a type of doomsday scenario is teaming up with likeminded people and forming a community in which everyone helps each other and we grow/hunt/gather our own food and help support each other. You could survive alone but it wouldn't be ideal by any stretch of the imagination...

In such a situation I think having the basic tools/camping gear would be mandatory. But also very crucial and maybe even more important would be a thorough knowledge of local wildlife and medicinal and edible plants.

i'm pretty sure i could work it out with almost anyone, so that they didn't have to shoot me.

i'd probably have alot harder time convincing people not to shoot me (especially a gang of bandits) if i was shooting at them.

chances are in that situation there would be a lot of hungry people that need food, and you can't feed everyone.  The more you try the less you will have and you will die just like them, because what they would need to be doing is going to find their own food instead of buming yours.  It sounds harsh, but it would be harsh times, eat or be eaten.  Watch out for your own.  That shit would suck bad.

yeah i've thought alot about what i would do in case of economic or political collapse.

preferably i'd just leave the country, if it was the whole world, i guess i'd be fucked, but i wouldn't be on some kill or be killed shit.

people can survive off of eating very little, i'd probably start walking south, and just hope to survive off random fruits and shit till things re-stabilized and i could find a farm to work on.

or i join a group of bandits as their sex slave/house elf.
