enforcing pub rules

I think some of the rules in the pub are overly enforced, excessive, and should be reconsidered and/or reevaluated.  bans are thrown around lightly by moderators who don't always heed the rules themselves, and of course, who's going to ban the mods? 

I'm sure many folks would agree with me that moving threads from the pub to OTD is not only less work for the mods, but a little more accomodating and generous to the folks who may have done wrong either on accident or on purpose.  much moreso than handing out week long bans for infractions not worthy of such. 

I can understand bans in extreme cases, but generally most bans I've received personally have been exessive and could have been solved by moving a thread to OTD or deleting a post.  It's even more upsetting considering the fact that I've personally donated a good bit of money to this site and had been a supporter for over a year. 

If I make a post in the pub as a joke or something fairly tame that one mod disagrees with, I'll be screwed out of not only reading the  threads in the pub which I often enjoy, but also making posts which are generally positive contributions to threads therein for 5 days or a week?  support tickets take time and obviously if a mod has a problem with a post I'd assume that any admins would generally take their side since they've "proven themselves," hence their being moderators. 

maybe some kind of system where a certain amount of questionable posts within a certain timeframe is banworthy makes sense, but I'd say you can fix these things much easier by simply moving "inappropriate" threads to OTD.  if someone makes more than one post that needs to be moved to OTD a day, then maybe a 1 day ban is reasonable, unless it's obvious and intentional harassment (like posting scat porn in threads in the pub or something) then something more is reasonable.  and if a certain amount of questionable posts are made within a few days or a week, then longer bans could be applied. 

I understand rules are there for a reason, but this community is based on consciousness expansion and open-mindedness.  shouldn't such rules, and infractions thereof, be taken with a grain of salt?  moderating with an iron fist seems contradictory to the spirit of this community.

I'd like to see an open discussion about this, at least if one of the mods doesn't delete this thread and tell me to file a support ticket.  :crankey:

We generally don't move inane pub threads to OTD because OTD hates that, and it does nothing to stop people from continuing to post OTD style posts in the pub.  You got a ban because you were trying to stir up shit, and you have a history for that. 

Most users seem to have no problem understanding what belongs and does not belong in the pub.  If they make a mistake or two, it's not big deal.  You've had five flaming/trolling infractions in 2008, plus that vomit picture you posted.  Let's just say it's obvious that you know when you're crossing the line, and you seem to do it on purpose.  There is quite a bit of lenience in the enforcement of rules; you seem bent on finding out how much you can get away with.  If you didn't know before, you know now.
