I am very, extremely broke right now, so I'm hoping to slide by using what I already have. From what I heard some people get away with keeping it in tupperware bowls and fanning it a few times daily.

I have gotten very crafty when my budget was low, most recently i used a 5gal drywall bucket with perlite in the bottom. fanned and misted alot and had great results.

Does anyone have a link to RR's original shotgun fc tek? I have been searching on her but seem to be having trouble finding it. Thanks!!!!

ps

oh and ive had success, nothing huge though, by cutting a plastic milk gallon jug in half, taping on one side so you got a door/lid top type thing going on,then fill with perlite for humidity....actually had better results than the cakes in the shotgun FC

You've bumped your thread twice within an hour.  The rule is no bumping your own thread for at least 24 hours.  Please observe so you don't knock other questions out of view. Thanks.

monotub is better in my opinion.  no fanning needed.  once it's fully colonized you can case it and put in fruiting conditions.  no opening the lid or unplugging holes until harvest day.  i know it sounds crazy, but don't knock it till you try it.  so much less hassle than having to fan cakes 5-6 times a day.  usually yields more, too.  look through Monstermitch's journal for detailed instructions.  enjoy!!

This thread is pointless. Monotub vs. Shotgun FC is not a controversy. They are for two different things. You could have found out plenty just by reading existing posts.

Your desire to be spoonfed information is annoying to me. Your bumping of your thread multiple times is annoying to me. And the "shit on the Dead" logo in your signature is both annoying and offensive to me. It's fine to not like something, but if you don't like it, why do you bother yourself with it? Particularly in a community where, chances are, a lot of people do like the Dead. Your intention is clearly to incite controversy, and to offend. It's just pointless and quite successfully offensive.

I'm not even a Dead fan. And, now, I'm definitely not a Snoopapotamus fan.

^^^^^ heres a montub log with instructions and pictures, also links to other monotub methods all in one post

I don't have enough posts to view this section yet... : (  I've never done either, but I'd say from what I have seen of monotubs, they're the upper notch of the two.  Bigger fruits, more fruits, and the one thread I saw said they didn't have to touch it once until harvest.  So overall less work for more/better fruit.

As said, they're for different purposes.  If you're going to the mountains in the middle of winter, you wouldn't need to argue whether a Corvette or Jeep would serve you better.

The shotgun terrarium tek is for cakes and small cased or uncased substrate trays.  The monotub is for small bulk projects where the substrate actually resides in the bottom of the tub.  Decide what and how you want to grow, and then select the method that fits your plans.

What's CAE?

And to the second post....  Why couldn't you place perlite or some such in a monotub and place the cakes on top.

This thread is not for arguing about "the dead".

True thats not what you created the thread for. But personally, I don't give a damn what the thread was created for if it was created by a lame ass newb like you. I sure won't support you.

I was reading above a giant hole with a hepa in it may not work, the monotubs hole placement is important, the lower holes right above the substrate expel CO2.. The holes near the top are fresh O2 inlets.. So yes the hole placement is critical..
