I live in a small town. Most people in small towns are religious freeks, and are alcoholics that beat their wives. The hate pot, because it makes people happy. They don't want to be happy, they want to be right that everyone is going to hell because of the changes in bigger cities. They are afraid of change comming to them.

You sound bitter.

Oh i am bitter. Bitter for having to be in this town.

If ya can't beat 'em, join 'em

Dunno, I'm from a small town and wouldn't consider myself bitter.

the town I'm in now has a population of less than 800, most
everyone seems pretty happy, it's a southern town where blacks
and whites get along, many are well respected members of the
community, our police force has probably written a dozen tickets
in the last 5 years between the two officers, they're very
outgoing folks, quite helpful as cops go, as opposed to taking
people to jail they seem to mediate more than arrest

I just dont understand the big city perception of mall towns,
the live within them and the cops that patrol them...

The young and bright leave for college and then cities, never to return . . .

my observation is that most of them return after 20 or so years

those that remain work shit jobs for shit pay, because the factories closed and Wal-Mart destroyed the core of the town. No wonder they are bitter.

I worked shit jobs for great pay and great jobs for shit pay,
the factories hired illegals and the locals commute 50 miles
for good money... there's no walmart in my town, there's no
industry, everything is always the same

but the next town over has 4 colleges and hot women scattered
from here to there, I usually stay in trouble

Being stuck in a small hick town sucks.

I ended up getting on the total wrong side of people becuase they so some incredibly fucked up thing that ends up fucking me over or something. Like I'll walk around town and if I run into them it's hardcore awkward. Or I'll get angry emails and phonecalls. It's so fucking stupid.

It's ridiculous, I wish I could move out to a big city but then I wouldn't survive on my own for a day!

People do seem bitter and horrible but you just have to find some better more relaxed people.

You have a different kind of small town. The one that kind of works.

Not the desolate waste land that everyone has in mind.
