uhhh... im too dumb to understand,  where does the first image of a fractal come from?  how do they put together an image using math?

its easy


x (or whatever letter you wanna use) squared (thats x times x) plus c (wich is any other number other than x)

or watch the videos

youll figure it out


its quite simple

even if your are dumb like me

but how do they come up with that patern and color with numbers? 

the movies are too boring to understand! haha

The color represents what number the answer goes to as you iterate (go through) the formula.  Different places on the picture represent different initial conditions the formula has.  On the inside and outside of the figure represent initial conditions where the answer goes to infinity or some where the answer goes to a finite real number.  But on the boundary, the answer can go to varying different numbers with just very slight changes of initial conditions.  That is, if you change your position on the boundary of the picture just a tiny, very tiny, amount you get very different answers.  This concept is related to chaos and things like the butterfly effect. 

Among the chaos at the boundary is the trait of self-similarity, the shapes the answers make on the boundary repeat as you zoom in forever.
