I read plenty, but it still is fairly long.  The Flesch-Kincaid Grade Level rates it as a 31.7, meaning you would have to acquire several doctorates in order to understand it.  I disagree with that.  I have read several sentences with over 100 words in them.

I read sentences longer than that all the time.  I am astounded that is considered overy long.

Without getting out of my chair, I will open the Tom Robbins book on my desk and it takes me 30 seconds to find...

I don't have statistics for it but the percentage versus length might be expotential.  That one has 63 words, though it only took you 30 seconds to find it; yours has 75.  I often look for difficult to understand sentences rather than length.

What do you normally read?

I'll read almost anything.  I read all the time.

You can generally find some pretty gnarly language in serious scientific journals.  I'm a geologist and I occasionally run across sentences in professional journals that make me sit up and take note.

I haven't had that experience with scientific journals, but I have found a few in scholarly philosophical works that were damned abstruse.  One of them I was never able to conquer.  I don't read fiction; I have enough of that in my life.

If you run across one of the ones from a scientific journal, post it.  I would like to read it.

I'll see if I can find that hard sentence.  Even with the context it was like wtf?

So, the property management company that runs the building where I work sent out an email detailing the security protocols for the DNC. Seems a war profiteering multi-national corporation w/ past ties to Dick Cheney not only occupies a few floors of the building, they have their shingle out above the front door. Oddly enough, this little park on top of our building's parking structure is a designated protest area. So, the email was giving us dooms day scenarios, like in the event of rioting they would lock us in the building, etc.

So, yeah... getting in and out of the building could be aggravating. but it should be fun to see some protesting. maybe a feces bomb or two, if I am lucky? I'll be sure to leave me jars of waste at home that week :lol:

Also, BHO is staying at the hotel across the street.

Ever read Thomas Pynchon?  Guy is out of control.  Paragraph length sentences.

yeah, the Dems are possibly bigger capitalists war mongers than the Reps. I'm surprised that people still buy into the whole two party thing...

I would love to be at the convention, but judicial circumstances prevent me from rioting at the moment.
