 Should I trip? Can use some advice

Hey guys,
This is my first post so bear with me.
I really want to experiment with shrooms but am questioning if it will be enjoyable for me. I have ADD and am possibly bi-polar. I also have a family backgroung of mental illness and suicide. About 6 months ago I spent a few days in a psychiatric hospital for attempted suicide (I wasn't going to kill myself but my parents freaked out and sure enough I wound up in there). This was all after my grandfather died, which was my father figure during most of my childhood. I got really depress... blah blah blah, enough of my life story . Now I am in good sprits and am really looking forward to experimenting with shrooms. I have read the warnings on the sight pertaning to mental illness and am a little weary about the risks. I obviously dont want to screw up my whole life from one trip. I know there is a good chance of me having a bad trip but i think ill me able to manage, i will have alot of friends and first timers present with me. I am a very light pot user and have never done any other drugs. I have read over most of this sight and am pretty well informed. Is there any advice you guys could give me? In your opinion is it safe and resonable for me to shroom?

Be careful if you trip. Sometimes, there are unseen skeletons waiting to assault you. When I first read the subject, I thought to myself, "if you have to ask, you probably shouldn't..."

Hello!
I am gonna post my thoughts on what i read. This doesnt mean I know for sure.
If I were u, i would prepare myself for a shroom trip:
Before eating them, think of them. Take them in your hands and speak to them, asking for a calm and beautiful trip. Tell them you want help in your inner-reality. When you feel its ready, do your 'healing trip'. Please do have a sitter with you but not many people. Do not force yourself to prove something. Just eat them and let them do good to you. The whole 'speak to them' process is to force yourself do a good trip. If you do it seriously, you will see it actually works. After all, EVERYTHING is inside our minds...

yeah, mickey rourke said it right, dont exceed that dose, although i would say dont take more than 1 gram for start.
well it may sound retarded, but it isnt!
SHROOMS ARE NOT FOR ENTERTAINMENT!
SHROOMS ARE DIVINE IF YOU WANNA SEE THEM LIKE THAT... dont forget that Mazatec indians were/are using them for healing purposes, so they really can help you feel more and more better!

If your mind isn't right or you have a lot of things you have been thinking about you shouldn't trip, unless the dosage is low enough. Having the right frame of mind is crucial.
A month ago me and a friend took 3.5 gram doses with supplemental Syrian Rue and I watched my friend have a meltdown in front of me. He flipped out and was writhing on the floor in the bathroom, dry heaving, gripping his skull like a mental patient, and trying to hurt himself. He pulled his tongue ring out of his mouth without un-doing the fastener. All the while muttering cries for help. He was in this state for three scary hours. I know its not his fault but he fucked up my own mind blowing experience, except my trip was all good (until that point). Apparantly he had a lot on his mind as I discovered the next day.
Mushrooms can be a lot of fun, but some people under certain circumstances cannot handle it.
If you do it, start with a low dosage until you gain some experience. This will help determine if your mind can handle it.
Then after you get some experience maybe you can apply and get your membership to the Psychonaut Club. Good luck dude.

I'd say if you are mentally unstable in life perhaps the answer is no but then again perhaps it would be a good thing for you.......

Shrooms give to me heavy self evaluation and this is what usually leads into my bad trips. Thinking im leading a bad life ect...
Psychadelics are not for all and if you have any doubts about your mental stability i wouldnt do it.

If you truly are in good spirits I think you should be okay. I once tripped with a diagnosed schizophrene and he had a great time. It is very important not to take too high a dose. I'd say take no more than 2.5g and no less than 1.75g. One gram is a waste of time IMO. Read The Psychedelic Experience FAQ and How to Avoid a Bad Trip and read some trip reports. Check the ones at Erowid because they are categorized into Glowing Experiences, Bad Trips, First Times, etc. Read some of each. With full attention paid to set and setting, a low dose like that has minimal chance of troubles. Be safe and have fun.
